community development and rural development during last three decades era in
Karnataka state.

 After the introduction of microfinance through Self-Help Groups (SHG), they penetrated
into each and every corner in India and actually the NGOs are responsible for converting
the pilot project of microfinance into a major programme and the NGOs are responsible
for making the microfinance through SHG as the largest programme in the world.

 The Insurance product being offered by SKDRDP is not only an outstanding effort to
safeguard the interests of poor and support them in their difficult times, but it is an
innovative product too. The benefits offered through this product is not offered anywhere
else in India and by any other Insurer at such low costs. The bundling of various benefits
under one product at such a low rate is whole heartedly accepted by the population of
Karnataka and it’s a successful intervention and impact by SKDRDP. Regarding the
viability of the product, the volume plays a vital role and SHG member participation and
increasing awareness is further reducing the life risks, that is contributing to some extent
towards its viability.
