Purpose of LanSchool

• LanSchool is used to monitor student use of their

Chromebooks. While affording you the
opportunity to blank their screens and limit the
resources that they can access while in
your classroom.
Setting Up LanSchool
• To install LanSchool please follow the
following procedures:

• Press the “Windows” key and “R”

together, this opens the Run dialog
box.
• Type \\taz\techsource\LANSchool\ls8

• Double Click on the icon labeled
Teacher
• Follow all prompts to continue SetUp
• When asked to input your channel
number please do so ( if you do not
know your channel number do not
guess, ask Mr. Suggs)
Once Set Up

• Click Administer
• Click Preferences
• Your information should match what you see in
the image to the right.
Monitoring a Class

• Click “Administer”
• Click “One to One”
• Click “Load Dynamic Class
List”
• If this box pops up:
• Click
“Comma Seperated Valu
e”
• In the Box beneath is
type
• U:/LanSchool
• Click “OK”
• Select Your Class
• Click “OK”
Steps: IF and only IF Your Classes do Not Pop
Up
- Click your “File Explorer” on
your taskbar, or where ever yours
is located. The icon looks like this.
- Look for the Staff Share Drive
in your list of file locations.
- If it has a red X then simply
click it one time and it will turn
green.
- Complete previous slide again.
Restricting Web

• Highlight all the students

that you would like to have
restricted internet access.
• Click “Restrict” in the top toolbar.
• Click “Configure Web Limiting”
• Decide between the Block
List and the Allow List

Blank the Screen • Select which student(s) that
you would like to grab the
attention of.
• Click the arrow beside
blank screen.
• Click “Configure Blank
Screen Message”
• Type in message that you
would like displayed to the
student.
• Click “OK”
• Now Click the “Blank
Screen” button on the taskbar.

Google Classroom

• -Go to classroom.google.com
• -Sign in
• -Click the “+” sign in the upper right-hand
corner.
• -You are given two options you can
• -Join a class
• -Create a class
 • Google Classroom does rely on you to use your
Google Drive Google Drive (at least it works better in that way).

Classroom out this resource.
• Using Google Drive Presentation
• Creates a Digital Repository of all files you use in
class.
• Works great for co-teaching.
• Puts more responsibility on the student.
