What is 5G or Fifth Generation?

Introduction
The 5G technology will be an upgrade from current 4G technology. It is expected
to be launched in 2020 by Huawei. The 5G will provide more wider range of
frequency bands per channel. This will substantially increase the peak bitrate for
the users. It will be able to support speed as high as 10 Gbps.

Architecture
The whole system of 5G model is entirely based on IP model which is designed
for mobile and other wireless networks. A system in 5G includes one main user
terminal which is then connected to various autonomous and independent radio
accessing technologies. The IP technology helps in ensuring sufficient control on

Current Scenario
Research
The technology is under development and will be out in the markets in 2020. Huawei invested 600 million dollars for the
research and development of technology, and to ensure 100 times faster speed than the current 4G technology.
In April 2019, South Korea became the first country to adopt 5G technology. There are approximately 40,000 users of 5G in
the Asian nation- South Korea. It is expected that India will experience its first 5G experience in late 2020 or in early 2021.

Indian Broadband Companies

Broadband companies in India are relying on various foreign corporations for infrastructure supporting 5G technology.
Below is the list of broadband companies and their tie-ups for infrastructure requirements:
• Bharti Airtel- Huawei and Nokia
• BSNL- Nokia and Coriant
• Reliance Jio- Samsung
• Vodafone Idea- Ericsson

Analysis and Future Growth

Analysis
Even though, the technology is relatively new. But we can see
the demand and anticipation of it among general populous. 5G
is going to be a revolutionary invention, and it will force
everyone to experience it. 5G will surely fast boot the
automation, and industry related innovations. We can surely
live in the future that we thought about 10 years ago.

Future Growth
5G will sweep the whole telecom industry and ensure heavy
investing in this sector. Due to heavy investments, we can
foresee more research in the telecom sector. This will ensure
better usage of 5G in future. Moreover, we will witness full
interaction with artificial intelligence (AI), where AI will be able
to communicate with other devices through internet to serve us
better.
11
Conclusion
We talked about 5G technology. Its benefits and drawbacks, and importance to India for future growth. After proper
analysis of all facts and figures, we can conclude that 5G is a necessity not luxury for people. Since, every technology
has/have some disadvantages, we cannot ignore the advantages it will give to us.
India’s economy can be boosted very rapidly by 5G, as it will ensure a better platform for startup to grow. Better
automation, and smart vehicle to the automobile sector. Moreover, national and cybersecurity can be strengthened by
using 5G based applications and devices.
Now coming to the benefits of 5G for an individual. 5G will support IoT, it will be easier for a device to recommend data
based on your usage history. 5G will boost healthcare facilities, through fast and more accurate disease prediction. Also, it
will provide a wide variety of entertainment facilities to user through fast rate of data streaming. We will be able to
download one episode of our favorite tv series in just one second or in a blink of eye.
Though 5G will require heavy funding from GoI, but GoI will surely earn huge profit after selling the tenders. Meanwhile,
telecom companies will reap profits from investors, and the customers. Thereby, 5G will prove beneficial for all and it is the
need of the hour. So, in the end we can conclude that 5G is a revolution, whether we want it or not presently, we will end
using it extensively in the nearby future.
