INTRODUCTION

According to AC Neilsen Retail Audit, as of 2008,


there are estimated number of over 700,000 retail
stores nationwide which translate to one store for
every 140 Filipinos.

A study by TNS World Panel showed that sari-


sari stores have 46% channel share for fast
moving consumer goods, which makes it the most
frequented purchase channel in the Philippines.
Determine what are the challenges and problems
of the Sari-sari stores and what are the
marketing strategies for the business for its
development and sustainability.
What are the factors that may affect the
continuing growth of a particular sari-sari store?
What are the factors that may cause the failure of
this kind of business?
What are the challenges that sari-sari stores
encounter?
 How these challenges affect their daily lives?

The growing number of convenience stores and
supermarket chains in cities and in some
provinces can affect the income and business
operation of sari-sari store owners.

Advantages of having a Small Business:


 Ease of starting up.
 Ease of management.
 Do not have to pay any business taxes.
 You keep all profits.

their business.
 For the future researchers who are conducting the
same study will find this in more helpful and
reliable in looking for information, suggestions and
opinions that are relative to their study.
 The study will acknowledge the rich resources of
information that the Internet can provide for
supplementary learning.
This study will also be helpful for the ABM
(Accountancy, Business and Management)

SUMMARY, FINDINGS,
CONCLUSION, and
RECOMMENDATIONS
10% of the respondents said that their income is not
enough for their daily expenses. Yet, 100 % of the
respondents can manage well their income. But 70% of
the respondents had experienced many problems in their
store, mostly, 10% said, those problems are affecting their
daily lives because they don’t have enough financial for
their investment in their store.
None of the Owners are being pressured by their
competitors; therefore, 100% of the respondents are not
being pressured by their competitors.
 70% of the samples had experienced many problems in their
store, 80% said their customers showed bad attitude towards
them and 30% had complained about their products.

 In terms of location, 90% of the owners said that their store


is convenient to their customers and 80% said that they give
their customers satisfaction.

 100% of the customers of the sari-sari stores said that they


are all satisfied to their services and to the strategies they
used; also 100% are all agreed that their location is
convenient enough for them. But 80% of the customers had
complained about their services because of selling expired
products and 60% said that they encountered a vendor,
showing a bad attitude towards them.
 Most of the owners of sari-sari stores have the knowledge to
manage their daily income that is also enough for their daily
expenses.
 Most of the respondents had encountered problems and
difficulties like, their customers don’t pay debts and lack of
financial for the business.
 Less, or not all respondents are affected by the problems and
challenges, like lack of financial, they’ve encountered in their
stores.
 Additionally, most of the owners of sari-sari store that has
already encountered those difficulties are known to be using some
strategies like doing researches.
 However, none of the owners of sari-sari stores are being
pressured by their competitors.
 Most of the respondents had encountered many customers
showing a bad attitude towards them. In addition, some had
experienced complaints about their products.
 Most sari-sari stores are convenient enough for the customers of
the respondents.
 Subsequently, most owners give their customers’ satisfaction.
 All of the customers have the perception and agreed that the
strategies sari-sari store used are effective.
 Most of the customers of sari-sari stores complained about the
products they sell like expired products, and because of vendors
having a bad attitude towards them.
 All of the customers are satisfied to the location of sari-sari
stores, as well as the services they offer.
RECOMMENDATION
 It is important for every entrepreneur to have skills in record-
keeping. The researchers recommend a fact that every
entrepreneur should have a discipline in handling income, as
well as managing the budget for the development of the
business.
 Time, patience, money and resources are very important in
many different kinds of businesses. The researchers
recommend another fact that every storeowner should know
that their income from their business is necessary only for the
development of the business, set aside first those unnecessary
things, and instead, save the money and plan for the growth
and expansion of the business.
 In addition, every entrepreneur should also ensure customer
satisfaction better than competition. They must learn how to
deliver their services effectively to their customers to stand out
and be different.
 The researchers also include modules and textbooks for
training, for an individual or personal, for students taking
business and marketing courses, and for families, for the
development of their business skills. This will able every young
or adult entrepreneurs, also for every individual whose starting
up a new business, to take an opportunity to grow their
businesses and take charge of improving their lives.
 Training seminars and programs are also included that is
proven to be effective and also, beneficial to enhance their
entrepreneurial skills.
