 Low cost housing is a new concept which deals with
effective budgeting and following of techniques, Which
help in reducing the cost of construction through the
use of locally available material.
 Area from where cost can be reduced.
 Reduce plinth area by using thinner walls.
 Use locally available material.
 PURPOSE OF BUILDING.
 The primary object of a building is to provide shelter to
inmates.
 To provide protection to the inmates from the storm
rain, Snowfall.
 These are houses that are built solely for the
purpose of meeting the housing needs of the low
income earners. Lefebvre, Sturrock & Kipfe (2009).
 Define low cost housing as affordable housing for
poor or low-income individuals and families. This
does not necessarily refer to individual houses and
it also includes rental housing.
 Kellick & Berkoz (2006) however defined low cost
housing in plain terms as provision of housing
which caters to the minimum requirements of
masses within their income capabilities, Without
sacrificing the quality of construction.
 1) To increase the speed of construction.
 2) To reduce the cost of construction.
 3) Save the material quantities.
 4) To increase housing opportunity.
 5) Time saving.
 Nowadays construction of house is very
expensive due to higher cost of labour, Material
etc.
 The aim of this study is to reduce the cost of
house construction by taking in consideration
all those factors that are involved in
construction of a residential house (e.g. labour,
material etc) which effect the overall cost of
construction.
