INTRODUCTION
A generating station which converts heat energy
of coal combustion into electrical energy is
known as thermal power station
Anpara Power Project in this respect plays
critical role in power generation . So it is the
premier power project which is standing here to
give its long bolstering arms in the form of
electricity to the people of U.P. and India . The
Project was started in 1986 with its capacity
3*210 MW.
ANPARA THERMAL POWER STATION

Anpara Power Plant is situated in

the eastern region of U.P. It is the
area where manufacture found
maximum favourable conditions like
the coal requirements of the plant
are fed by Kakri , Kharia and Beena
Coal mines and the water source is
supplied from the Govind Ballabh
Pant Sager the biggest man made
reservoir of Rihand Dam .
BOILER
 Pulverized coal is put in boiler furnace in
which water is heated and circulated until
the water is turned in to steam at the
required pressure. Coal is burned inside
the combustion chamber of the boiler.
The gases which are at high temperature
vaporize the water inside the boiler to
steam.
 Boiler are of two types:-
1. Fire tube boiler
2. Water tube boiler
TURBINE
 Dry & superheated steam from superheater is
fed to the steam turbine.
 The heat energy of steam when passing over the
blades of turbine is converted into mechanical
energy.
 When the turbine shaft is directly coupled to an
electric generator the mechanical energy is
converted into electrical energy.
 According to pressure of steam it have 3 parts
1. HP Turbine
2. IP Turbine
3. LP Turbine
CONDENSER
 Condenser is a device in which steam
is condensed to water at a less than
atmosphere.
 Condensation can be done by
removing heat from exhaust steam
using circulating cooling water.
 During condensation, the working
substance changes its phase from
vapour to liquid state, and rejects
latent heat this is also called phase
transition.
ECONOMIZER
 Flue gases coming out of the boiler
carry lot of heat .
 An economizer extract a part of
this heat from flue gases and uses
it for heating feed water.
 This use of economizer results in
saving coal consumption and
higher boiler efficiency.
ALTERNATOR
 Turbine and alternator are
mechanical coupled with each
other.
 Alternator convert mechanical
energy of turbine into electrical
energy.
 The electrical output from the
alternator is delivered to the bus
bar through transformer.
