UNDP’s South-South and Triangular

Cooperation
Background

 In line with Indonesia’s Constitution that mandates “to contribute to the

establishment of a world order based on freedom, peace and social
justice”. Indonesia’s SSC is a manifestation of Indonesia’s commitments
and contributions to global developments.
 In 2009 Jakarta Commitment pledges to enhance and facilitate
cooperation among developing countries.
 As an emerging Middle-Income Country and member of the G-20,
Indonesia has much to share with and learn from other countries in the
region and beyond.
 Indonesia is striving to become a significant partner in providing SSC and
in shaping SSC policies globally

Strategy

 Initiative to support MoFA in the execution of its mandate to establish a

Single Agency for Indonesia’s SSTC
 Working closely with other ministries/agencies of the Government of
Indonesia, especially members of the National Coordination Team (NCT)
and the implementers of SSTC
 Utilising to the maximum extent possible the results of the work of the
NCT that have been produced since its establishment
 Initiating collaboration with the private sector, local governments,
academia, the media, and other relevant parties
Strategy (cont’d)

 Working in close collaboration with UNDP country offices in relevant

countries as well as relevant HQ units, if possible establish a joint-
project
 Consulting potential development partners to support the strengthening
of Indonesian international development cooperation governance
 Due to the institutional development-heavy nature of this initiative, its
initial phase will run for two-years (until 2019). Depending on the
priority of the next government, which will be installed at the end of
2019, this initiative may continue and be enhanced
