Responsibility

• The HSE Manager is responsible to decide which Safety Signs are


required and where they have to be placed according to the Risk
Assessment.

• Every site must have a responsible person in charge for the safety
signs maintenance.

• All personnel are responsible to take care and report illegible,


damaged, removed or non valid safety signs.

Characteristics

- Logically displayed and easy to read.


- Removed if no longer valid.
- Not substitute for proper health and safety control measures.
- Large enough to enhance legibility.
- Resistant to weather and corrosion.
- Securely fixed.
- Properly maintained, replaced when necessary.
- Sufficiently illuminated.
- Must be displayed in both, English and project/local
language.

Meaning

The Safety Signs lists provided represent the most


important signs of each category and the most basic ones
which can be found at some general working sites.

The lists given are not meant to be exhaustive. For the full
lists refer to the Site Safety Procedures.

Compliance and Removal

COMPLIANCE TO SAFETY SIGNS

Signs that warn of danger or give mandatory instruction must be followed.

Personnel must pay attention to information given by the sign.

NO PERSON MUST DELIBERATELY DISOBEY ANY SAFETY INSTRUCTION!

REMOVAL

It is forbidden to interfere or remove any safety sign or barrier if not authorized to


do so.

Disciplinary actions could be implemented and could arrive to the dismissal.
