 Objective :-
 As per , requirement from various industry stating that the department’s graduates need better
training in pneumatics systems.

 As a response to that requirement, Knowledge and understanding of pneumatic systems and

their components should be given to make them better qualified and performed well in their
industrial jobs.

 The aim is to
1)Understand the basic principle of pneumatics,
2)Describe and identify the different types and functions of pneumatics components.
3) Read, construct simple pneumatics circuits & industrial application such as cane opener or door
opener or box transfer system.

 The overall objective of the project is to fabricate a pneumatic trainer kit based on basic circuits
& basic components which is to be further used for educational purposes.
 Concept & Idea :-

 The transmission and control of power by means of fluid under pressure is becoming increasingly
used in all branches of industry.

 The extensive use of pneumatics system to transmit power is due to the fact that properly
constructed fluid power systems posses a number of favorable characteristics.

 They eliminate the need for complicated systems of gears, cams, and levers.

 Also, they transmit motion without the slack or delay inherent in the use of solid machine parts.

 Therefore, We can often power in a cheaper, safer, more flexible, and more reliable way than a
large number of electric motors and actuators.
 General layout of pneumatic system :-
 Literature survey :-

 Literature survey is very important to study any information, general view of project and
the way to solve the problem regarding the project.

 As its is developed system, we are more focusing on gaining information from various
resources such as books, research paper & NPTEL video lecture

 As per market survey, the minimum market price of pneumatic trainer kit is approximately
1 lakhs with limited components.

 So to overcome this, we are fabricating the pneumatic trainer kit from fundamental
circuits with some application circuit and industrial application such hold & clamp device
……so on.
 Components Required:-

 Safety aspects:-
Pneumatic cylinder Failure can occur by :- Valve Failure can occur by :-

1. Side load mounting  Mains pressure too low/high.

 This can happen if an object is in the way of the rod
when the cylinder is on its outward  No mains air.
 stroke.
 The cylinder rod hits an object which forces it up/to the  Incorrect connections.
side at an angle causing damage.
2. Contamination  Incorrect signals.
 Dirt, water and any other impurities entering the
cylinder.  Trapped air, i.e. when two signals are giving to
3. Lack of lubricant opposing sides of the same valve at the same time,
 Seals need lubrication; otherwise they dry out, harden resulting in a confused valve.
and become inflexible

4 . Operating in excess of components limit.

 The cylinder being used is not suited for the job;
instead a larger cylinder is needed.
Project Output :-
 Handle and operate basic pneumatics such as production of Air compressor, Control
Circuit and Components of Pneumatic System, Valves, Functional Sequence-Circuit
Diagram Representation, Methods of Representing Sequence of Motion and
Switching Conditions, Methods for Constructing a Circuit Diagram, Design and
Operating Principles of a sequencing Synchronizing System, Understanding
industrial applications devices.
