Abstract

• Satellite images are corrupted by noise during image acquisition and

transmission.

• The removal of noise from the image removes important details .

• The three important steps are

1.image denoising

2.resolution enhancement

3.classification of image

• An effective denoising technique is hybrid directional lifting.

• An effective denoising technique is hybrid directional lifting.

• To enhance the resolution of denoised image discrete wavelet transform

based interpolation is used.

• The image is then classified using a support vector machine which is

superior to other neural networks.
Introduction

• In the past decade wavelet transform has become one of the most important
techniques for image denoising due to its high energy comaptation
property.

• An important step in wavelet thresholding is selection of threshold value.

• An improperly selected threshold value affects color, contour and texture of

denoised image and creates visually annoying anticrafts.

• To avoid this we use hybrid directional lifting technique to remove additive

noise thereby improving visual quality of image.
• The another important methodology is resolution enhancement.

• The goal of this is to produce a processed image that is suitable for given
applications.

• This can be achieved by discrete wavelet transform .

• It focuses on modifying the resolution the image so that result is more

suitable than original image.

• The last step is classification of image which is process of segmenting the

image into different classes.

• It can be accomplished by support vector machine(SVM)

Existing system

• The components used in existing system are

1.filters

2.edge detection techniques

3.outs segmentation

Drawbacks:

• All these are applicable only to grayscale images

• Algorithm design for this is complex

• Output is not exact

Proposed system

• In this we use
1.Hybrid directional lifting algorithm
2.discrete wavelet transform based interpolation.
Hybrid directional lifting
• Hybrid approach is based on wiener and pseudo filter

• The performance of individual filter is taken interms of SNR and

combined to form a hybrid filter
• In order to quantify this algorithm a high quality image is taken and some
noise is added to it.
• It is then given as input to denoising algorithm which produces the image
close to original image.
Software used

1.MATLAB is abbreviated as matrix-laboratory.

2.It has 72 tool boxes.
3.In this the information is stored in the form of rows and columns.
