AIRCRAFT RIGGING

• AIRCRAFT RIGGING
yaitu suatu proses pengturan pergerakan suatu
flight control surface yang sesuai dengan gerakan
nya terhadap titik netral. Pergerakan flight
control surface harus sesuai dengan pergerakan
flight control ( stick or control yoke )yang berada di
cock pit
• Aircraft rigging terdiri dari :
a. TENSION
b. RIGGING
c. STRUCTURAL ALIGNMENT
LEVELLING THE AIRCRAFT AND RIGGING CHECK
• Levelling the aircraft
- the aircraft is level or in rigging position
lateral and longitudinal line are horizontal
- leveling used jack make the acft ldg claear 0f
the ground
- checking level for small aircaft used
pegs or block can be rested a straight edge
and spirit level and generrally attached to the
parllel with he datum line
Lateral or longitudinal level should be check first
For large Aircraft:
- used grid methode
if the aircraft should be level need the equipment
as:
- Plum Bob
- lateral and longitudinal spirit level type
inclinometer are attached to the structure
Rigging check
- Dehederal and incidence angles of conventional air
can not be checked.
- Its should be checked at specified period and after
heavy landing or abnormal flight load
- On large aircraft rigging used sighting rods and
theodolit

to be used as guideline to assist in the repair of
common demage to specific aircraft structure

Information from manufacture may be in the form of


- Service Instruction may include a recommended

AD

1. CABLE MATERIAL :
Aircraft cable material are made from carbon steel and Corrosion Resistance Steel
2. CABLE CONSTRUCTION :
The basic component of cable is wire
The diameter of wire is determined of diameter of cable
The number of wire are peformed into helical shape or spirel then form a strand.
3. CABLE DESIGNATION
a. FLEXIBLE CABLE 7X19 ( Primary Flight Control )
b. MEDIUM FLEXIBLE CABLE 7 X 7 ( Secondary Flight Control ,engine control and
indicator control).

- only about 75 % of the original cable strength
- hand woven 5 tuck splice.

- insured desired cable function and strength
3. Spliced
- suitable for used in civil aircraft

CABLE INSPECTION

Aircraft cable system are subject to veriety of enviromental condition


and deterioration
Wire and strand breakage is easy to recognize visually
Deterioration such as wear , corrossion,are not easily seen
Attantion should be given to area where cable pass through
battery compartment lavatory and wheel wells Special
attention should be given to critical fatigue areas.Those
area are defined as any where cable runs over ,under or
around pulley sleeved or through fairlead
CABLE INSPECTION TECHNIQUE
TRAVEL ADJUSTMENT

Control surfaces should be move a certain distance in a


direction from the nuetral position.The movement must be
synchronized with the movement of the flight deck control.
The flight control system must be adjusted to obtain these
requirement
These tools for measuring include , protector, rigging fixtures
rulers , templetes
The rigging consists of the following:
1. positioning the flight control system in neutral and
temporarily locking it there with rig pins or block
2. Adjusting system cable tension and maintaining rudder,
elevator nad aileron in the nuetral position
3. Adjusting the control stops to the AMS(aircraft
manufacture specification)
• Measuring cable tension

- tensiometer harus acurate
- dilengkapi anvil
- a riser / plunger
- harus disesuikan dengan kondisi temperatur setempat

• RIGGING :
a. Penempatan suatu flight control system dalam
posisi netral dan di locking untuk sementara
dengan menggunakan rig pin atau rig block
b. Mengatur pergerakan flight cintrol surface ,
pengaturan ketegangan cable , linkage , dan adjust
able stops yang disesuaikan dengan spsesifikasi
pesawat yang dikeluarkan oleh pabrik pembuat
pesawat tersebut
