government units;
3. discuss how decentralization affects
governance; and
4. discuss the performance of a local
government unit.
DECENTRALIZATION

it occurs when there is a transfer of


authority, responsibility, and resources
from the central government to lower
government units.
LOCAL GOVERNMENT

 It is the lowest level of elected territorical


organization within a state.
 In the heterogenous, geographic, and
cultural context of the Philippines, a
decentralized model of the government

governance.

municipalities and component cities within the
provincial boundaries.
 Elected local government officials have three-
year terms.
 Local officials are entitled to three consecutive
terms.
