Objective Of Presentation

 In this presentation will explain about the

differential gear in automobiles.

 In automobiles and other wheeled vehicles,

wheels receive power from the engine via a
drive shaft and make the vehicle move forward
or backward.
Definition of Differential Gear

 Differential gear is define as a component of vehicle which transmit

power from the drive shaft to the rare wheels.
Parts of Differential
 Right/ Left Axle Shaft : Transfer torque Pinion gear
from differential assembly to the drive
wheel. Right axle shaft

 Side/Spider Gears : Help both wheels to

turn independently when turning.

 Pinion Gears : Transfers power from the Spider gears

drive shaft to the ring gear. Side
gears

 Ring Gear : Provide a final gear reduction

and transfer power 90-degrees to the
wheels. Ring gear

Conclusions

 So the differential has essentially three jobs.

 First, it transfers power from the engine to the wheels.

 Second, it varies this power so that the wheels may

rotate independently (thus the term “differential”).

 Lastly, the differentials act as the final gear reduction

drive system for the drivetrain.
