Feeling Happy

Feeling Sad
Feeling loved
Feeling angry
Video: Broken
A A
Too many churches are led by
wounded pastors and leaders
who can’t really love people or
be vulnerable or focus on the
future because of past
rejection and hurt.
–PTR.RICK WARREN
The deepest
wounds that
one can have
are found in
the SOUL.
When God
created man, He
designed us not
only to be loved
and to feel love,
but also to give
love.
When the soul is WOUNDED, it
is difficult to
receive love
from others
and to offer
our love to others as well.
PSALMS 109: 22 NLT
22For I am poor and needy
and my heart is full of pain…
Man is a three-part being:

• Spirit
• Soul
• Body
The “SOUL” is made up of the mind,
the will, and the emotions.

 The “mind” processes information and

is what makes us conscious .

 The “emotions” are our feelings.

 The “will” is the decision-maker.

When the soul is wounded:
 The pain is so deep that not even time
can erase it.

 Usually the wounds of the soul are

rooted in the most intimate part of our
heart where we cannot even grasp
them in our memory.
When Do Wounds of the Soul Begin?
1. Some wounds are inflicted before
we are even born.

 When a child is conceived, he is an

extension of his parents.
When Do Wounds of the Soul Begin?
1. Some wounds are inflicted before
we are even born.
 Everything the parents go through while
the child is in his mother’s womb can
affect that child; things such as emotions,
stresses, thoughts, fears, and words that
are spoken.
When Do Wounds of the Soul Begin?
1. Some wounds are inflicted before
we are even born.
 The character of both parents is
reproduced in the child and the curses or
blessings of both family lines begin to
impact the child.
When Do Wounds of the Soul Begin?
1. Some wounds are inflicted before
we are even born.
2. Any wound sustained while in the
womb or during childhood.
 Whether it is caused by something spoken
or something felt or perceived – leaves a
psychological scar on a person’s life.
Worse thing happen to the
wounded person:
These wounds can become open doors
through with Satan can gain entrance
into a person’s life and torment them
with impure or unclean spirits, such as
fear, insecurity, feelings of inferiority,
jealousy, anger, rejection, etc.
What happens when a leader is
wounded?
1. He/she becomes emotional…
“INTERNAL WOUNDS ARE ALWAYS
MORE SERIOUS THAN EXTERNAL
WOUNDS”
What happens when a leader is
wounded?
2. He/she becomes “HISTORICAL”
“The pain becomes fresh when we
rehearse it in our mind over and
over again”
The people who hurt you in the past
can no longer hurt you unless you
choose to allow them to do so. Every
time you rehearse it you’re still
allowing somebody in your past to
control your present.
Psalm 37:8
“Let go of anger and leave your
rage behind. Do not be
preoccupied. It only leads to
evil.”
What happens when a leader is
wounded?
3. Resentment and Bitterness
becomes a “TRASH” which we can
possibly throw to someone else…

4. Emotional pain affects our
physical body
Inner Healing
When we speak of inner healing, we are
referring to the healing of the wounds
inflicted on the inside of a person – not
physical pain, but the wounds felt in the
SOUL.
Steps Toward Healing and
Restoration
1. Forgive with all of your heart those who
have offended you.
2. Do not hold onto anything in your heart that
causes bitterness, resentment, hatred, or
rebellion.
Steps Toward Healing and
Restoration

3. Forgive yourself.

4. Surrender yourself completely to Jesus.

Isaiah 53:5 NLT
5But HE was pierced for our
rebellion, crushed for our sins. HE
was beaten so we could be whole.
HE was whipped so we could be
healed.
Psalms 147:3 (NKJV)
He heals the broken-hearted and
binds up their wounds.
