Human is a social animal by nature hence tends to form neighborhoods and communities. These communities and settlements are
constituted of people from different walks of life.
In a city- Urban Public spaces are the place where people tend to interact, meet, socialize and become one with the social fabric of
the city, But these Public spaces often tend to be problematic spaces in modern cities. The changing user need and aspiration raises
question on utility and workability and functionality of an urban public space.
Urban spaces are often judges on their quality and spatial ,social and physical arrangement through user behavior and
belongingness
In present day scenario of untapped urbanization and growing population, Basic quality humans needs which are at the center of
the entire city growth is often been overlooked
Public spaces, which are soul of the city containing various public, private, commercial and social activities, these are the spaces
integrate urban fabric and allows interaction between various activities

The study tries to get an insight into producing more coordinated ,legible, comfortable and user friendly urban spaces which acts as
the center of social life and adds vibrance to the city

EFFECTS OF PHYSICAL DIMENSIONS ON THE SOCIAL QUALITY OF AN URBAN PUBLIC SPACE

The urban spaces – i.e- Streets and plazas . The aim is to study typology, elements, objects and scales of a public realm and how it
changes user pattern and social behavior.
-The study aims at re establishing the relationship between the urban open spaces and the users(Humans)
-understanding the attributes which helps in development of user friendly urban space
-understanding the physical aspects of an urban space through qualitative analysis of the space and understanding different
attributes required for an ideal perception of an urban spaces
