His father, Elias Disney, moved to the United
States after his family failed to farm in Canada.
In April 1906, Walt's family moved to Marceline,
Missouri, where his brother owned a property.
There they bought a house and a farm. While in
Marceline, Walt developed his love for drawing. A
neighbor of theirs paid Walt to make some drawings
of his horse. Also, in Marceline, Walt developed
his passion for trains.
When he was in high school,
he was the main drawer of
the school newspaper. His
designs were very patriotic,
most of them focused on the
First World War. Disney
dropped out of high school
at the age of 16 to join the
army, but he didn't receive it
because he was too young.

Later he moved to Kansas to

start his artistic career.
Disney said his first ambition
was to become a film
director. He went to work at
all the studios in the city, but
they all rejected him.

After a series of failures, Disney had to
create or "star". Most of the biographies
revolved around Disney's idea for
Mickey Mouse. The mouse was an initial
number "Mortimer", but later it was
made "Mickey Mouse" because it could
be given to Disney's wife, Lillian,who
considered the name "Mortimer" to be
inappropriate.
Walt's involvement in Disney World
ended in the latter part of 1966; after
many years of smoking he was
diagnosed with lung cancer. Walt
Disney died five years before the
opening of the Disneyland
megaproject, Walt Disney World in
Florida. He was a "heavy smoker",
one of the so-called "chain smokers",
from which he also generated his
disease.
