This document provides information about the analysis of a skew bridge model with varying skew angles. It includes the project details such as team members and guide. It discusses the types of loads acting on bridges and concepts like natural frequency and resonance. Previous studies on skew bridges are summarized which form the basis of the objectives of this project. The methodology includes modeling the bridge in ETABS for different skew angles and comparing the natural frequency and deformation. The schedule of work is also provided. Model codes for 11 cases with varying skew angles from 0 to 60 degrees are listed for analysis.

PROJECT GUIDE : MR.G .sudarshan.
A skew bridge is one whose longitudinal axis is not at right angle to the abutment. Bridges are important structures built to span without closing the way underneath like water, valley or road for purpose of providing passage over the obstacle. Dead load Live load Impact load Wind load Buoyancy effect Seismic loads Natural frequency Frequency of free vibration of a structural system Depends on Mass & stiffness
The term “resonance” occurs when dynamic
forces coincide with the natural frequencies of the supporting structure. Tacoma Narrows Bridge (1940) Sindhu b.v Ashwin K.N,Dattatreya,S.V Dinesh (international journal of research in engineering and technology) concluded that ,The maximum deflection for skewed deck slabs decreases with the increase in skew angle. Anu sreebai S.K,Krishnachandran V.N(international journal in applied science and engineering technology) concluded that the skew bridge with angle less than 15 degree can be analysed as a conventional rectangular bridge Load carrying capacity of skew slab increases as skew angle increases. Sajmi mamshad,Smitha K K( international journal of latest trends in engineering and technology), They studied the dynamic response of concrete bridge and suspension cable bridge and concluded that suspension bridges produce higher than concrete girder bridges and deformation is also higher for suspension bridge Shobha herath,Vignaraj muthulingam concluded that the results obtained from SAP2000 are in good agreement with the results obtained from field measurements. Considering all the conclusions we have drawn our objectives. Ajay D.Shahu, S.V Joshi, P.D Pachpor (International journal of current engineering and scientific research). Torsional moment plays a major role for both equivalent bending moment and equivalent shear force observed during the analysis and design for varying skew angle both for the dead load and live load. As the skew angle increases, torsion moment increases Finding response of the bridge by varying skew angles performing harmonic analyis Comparing the natural frequency in all the cases. comparing deformation In all the cases.
