A high pass caught by a leaping teammate who tries to dunk the ball
before landing.
LOW POST
An offensive position on the court close to the basket.
SPIN MOVE
One of the most effective ways to get around your defender while
driving to the basketball hoop. It is a dribbling move in which you rotate
or spin your body around the defender while moving forward toward
the basket protecting the basketball from him with your body.
PICK AND ROLL

a screen for a teammate handling the ball and then moves toward the
basket to receive a pass.
SCREEN
A blocking move by an offensive player in which they stand beside or
behind a defender in order to free a teammate to either shoot a pass or
drive in to score. Successfully “setting a screen” in team sports such as

ball rapidly from one hand to the other to make a change in direction.
STEP BACK JUMPSHOT

the rim.

ball is given to the team that the foul was committed upon.
TECHNICAL FOUL
A technical foul is any infraction of the rules penalized as a foul which
does not involve physical contact during the course of play between
opposing players on the court, or is a foul by a non-player. The most
common technical foul is unsportsmanlike conduct.
ILLEGAL SCREEN
This is an offensive foul in Basketball when the player who is setting the
screen is still moving when they make contact with the defensive player.

When a ball crosses a boundary determined to be outside the field of
play, an out of bounds call is made.
GOALTENDING

basket and it is in a downward flight, above the basket ring and within
the imaginary cylinder, and not touching the rim.
TRAVELLING VIOLATION
Is a violation of the rules that occurs when a player holding the ball
moves one or both of their feet illegally. When a player has taken two or
more steps without the ball being dribbled, a travelling violation is
called.
DOUBLE DRIBBLE VIOLATION
An illegal dribble, occurs when a player ends his or her dribble by
catching or causing the ball to come to rest in one or both hands and
then dribbles it again with one hand or when a player touches it twice
