THE CODE ON WAGES -2019
OBJECTIVE:
1) Understanding the key provisions of Code on Wages with role of Employer, HR, Employee & Labor Officer.
2) Compliance to be followed & maintained by the principal employer, contractors and its Inspection process.
BACKGROUND:
Labor ministry of India has taken initiative to amalgamate 44 labor laws into four codes, namely (i) Code on wages, (ii) Code on
industrial relations, (iii) Code on social security and safety, (iv) Code on health and working conditions. At present, Code on wages
has been notified where its drafting rules are under commencement.
WHAT IS CODE ON WAGES: This law subsumes and repeals the major 4 labor laws, namely Equal Remuneration, Min. wage,
Payment of Wages, Payment of Bonus with the intent to regulate and in sync the definition of each clauses under single act.
Key Points Training Procedures in Brief Wage structure as per acts:
Preliminary Definition:  Definition of each title, employer, employee, contractor, wage structure, etc. ERA / POWA MWA / POBA
 Equal remuneration clauses (ERA) (i) Gender Equality & (ii) Equal pay. Basic Basic

Minimum wages  Central wage ceiling (Floor wage), State Gov. to notify further wage slab. DA DA
(MWA)  Wage slab to defined through Unskilled, skilled semi-skilled and high-skilled
