THE PRINCIPLE OF ARTS DESIGN

• DESIGN
-the proper arrangment of the different are element in order
to produce something.
The design of things make objects differ from one
preception to another
Good design is the result of careful and correct application
of the principle of design
The most important factorfor an artist to remember is to
execute these principle in order to achieve beauty and
better preception .
Architects,engineer,painters,sculptor,and other
artists are not the only designer in the
world,Everybody is a designer,and all of us are
designer in our own ways
• Thus it,would very beneficial for us to be familiar
with the principle of arts design one of them is.

HARMONY

-is the visually satisfying effect of combining similar,related


elements.
-is the principle which produces an impression of unity
through the selection and arrangement of consistent
objects or ideas

RHYTHM

• Is the regular ,uniform,or related visual movement


made through the repetition of a unit or motif.
• Can observed when the units are of the same sizes
and distances from another .
• is not the only applied to graphic arts
(drawing,printing,and painting)but alsoto
architecture,music,textiles,laces,furniture,glassware,dr
esses,gardening,etc.
BALANCE

• Is a condition or quality which gives a feeling of


rest,repose,equilibrium or stability.
• Mathematically objects are balanced when they have
equal physical weights and are placed equally distant
from a common center of axis.
• FORMAL OR SYMMETRICAL BALANCE
-is the balanced of equal visual weights placed at equal
distances from the axis.
INFORMAL OR ASYMMETRICAL
-is the balance of unequal visual weights the heavier one
being nearer the axis and the lighter one farther.
PROPORTION

• Is the art principle which shows pleasing relationship


between a whole and its parts themselves
• generally expressed in terms ratios
EMPHASIS

• Is the principle of art which tends to carry the eyes from


the center of interest or dominant part of any
compositionto the less important or subordinate patrs
• there is no dominance without subordination and no-
subordination without dominance.

• BY ARRANGEMENT OR GROUPING OBJECTS


• BY DECORATION
• BY COLOR CONTRAST
• BY THE USE OF PLAIN BACKGROUND SPACE
• BY THE USE OF UNUSUAL LINES,SHAPE,AND SIZES
OF COLOR
• BY ACTION OR MOVEMENT
OTHER ARTS OF PRINCIPLE

• NOVELTY OR NEWNESS-provides the best opportunity


for developing ones creative ability
• VARIETY OR VARIATION-arrangment or style of
furniture make the space the furniture occupies more
interesting and attractive.
• UTILITY ,ADAPTABILITY OR FUNCTION -in designing
modern structure,function is now the firstconsideration
• CONTRAST-this art principle is synonymous to
opposition or contradiction.
