Holiness of BODY & SOUL

 The Mystery of Incarnation states:

that Jesus assumed a truly human body
endowed with a human soul, thus
sanctifying both.
 The holiness of the BODY entails:
1. Ordered cared for bodily health, hygiene
and bodily culture
2. Devotion of our bodily energies to all
good works for the glory of God.
3. Conformity with God’s will even in pain,
illness and even death.
Bodily LIFE is a GIFT of God
 Life is given not at will
but in “STEWARDSHIP”
 It is a good that is entrusted by God
 Therefore, we are bound to maintain,
nourish, and cherish it.
 We are bound to drive away from
anything that could harm it.
 We are asked to place it in the
service of God and neighbor
Drug Addiction:
Patient’s Point of View
What FOR?
 To open our sensitivities to the
plight of our brethren who are
addicted to drugs
 To be more conscious of our
thought patterns in looking at
them and dealing with them
 As future pastors, to look into how
we could pasture these “lost
sheep” or “outcasts”

Where do we COME IN?
 As individuals, CHARITY urges us
to refrain from “LABEL-ing” Recovering
Drug Patients (RDP)
 As pastors, we could do the FOLLOW-UP
especially the Spiritual growth of the RDP.
 Since our words carry weight, we could
admonish members of the community to
at least practice charity towards the RDP
Effects on the RDP
 It helps in healing the wounds caused by
their “down fall”
 It helps in gaining at least a minimum of
SELF-RESPECT
 It helps in preventing a highly probable
relapse
 And thus helping the RDP to say NO! to a
highly unethical practice of
Drug Dependence
