Summary
• Mary lives in town ruled by the sisterhood and the
guardians. The village is sorrounded by fences; bey
ond lies only forest. There are only 3 ways through t
he fence ; gates that open on paths that are themse
lves enclosed by fencing expelling by those of who'v
e been infected. Where the 2 paths lead no one kno
ws for the sisterhood says the village is the human
habitation left on Earth.
• Mary has been raised on stories passed down from
her great great great-grandmother about life before
the coming of zombie. She is especially fascinated b
y the ocean and believes if she could reach it , she
would be free.
