ROLE PLAY
• Aims :
• To increase communication skill using medical
terms in English
• Group of two students are given three choice of
scenario
• Common cold
• Diarrhea
• Constipation
• Next week all students have to present their role
play as a pharmacist and a student in max 3
minutes for each group
SCENARIO 1. COMMON COLD
• Situation :
• Mr/Mrs. Smith has not been feeling well for the
past few days. Today he/she visits his/her
pharmacist’s office with a very sore throat, runny
nose, fever, poor appetite, and reports feeling
weak and tired.
SCRIPT OVERVIEW
• Patient :
• Go to the pharmacy, tell the situation and ask for medicine
and some information about the medicine and how to recover
soon
• Pharmacist:
• Medicine : Paracetamol 3x1
• Trifed (Pseudoephedrine HCl and Triplodine HCl) 3 x 1
• Vitamin C (1x1)
• Situation:
• Mr/Miss John has not been feeling well because
he/she got diarrhea since last night. He/she ate
too much spicy food at their friend’s farewell
party. He/she went to the toilet more than 4 times
and the faeces were liquid and smelled very bad.
SCRIPT OVERVIEW
• Patient :
• Go to the pharmacy, tell the situation and ask for
medicine and some information about the medicine
and how to recover soon
• Pharmacist :
• Medicine: activated carbon
• Situation:
• Mr/Mrs Adam has not been feeling well since the
last two days, because he/she has not been
defecating. Normally, they have loosen the
bowels every morning. They ate too much meat
and carbohydrates these past few days.
SCRIPT OVERVIEW
• Patient:
• Go to the pharmacy, tell the situation and ask for
medicine and some information about the medicine
and how to recover soon
• Pharmacist:
• Medicine:
• Bisacodyl tablets
•
• When to take medicine (1-2 tablets before bed time)
• How to take the medicine (take with plain water)
• What is major side effect (in this case: too much tablet will
make diarrhea)
• Plus: eat more vegetables (fiber), yoghurt/mango, drink
more water
