Ohm's Law

Ohm's Law

• Georg Simon Ohm (1789- 1854)

• The potential difference

( voltage) across an ideal
conductor is proportional to the
current through it and inversely
proportional to the resistance.

Ohm’s Law are called
“ohmic” or “linear”.

Problem:
Ohm's Law

A nine volt battery supplies power to a cordless

curling iron with a resistance of 18 Ω. How much
current is flowing through the curling iron?

Given a resistor with

color bands green red
yellow silver and a 9V
battery, what is the
current that we
expect to pass
through the circuit?
