◦ This presents the experiences of the applicant


arranged in time sequence.

◦ This reveals work stability and promotion


record of employment
2. Functional

◦ This focuses on the skills and accomplishments


of the applicant relegating to the side-line the
broken record of employment.
3. Combination

◦ This combines the features of the first two


kinds of resume. As such, this highlights job
history as well as capabilities.
Contents of all Resumes
 PERSONAL INFORMATION
◦ Includes age, sex(gender), civil status, birthday,
birthplace, citizenship, nationality and others.

◦ Career objective or a short sentence describing


what you hope to attain can also be included
here.
 EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

◦ Can also be labelled Academic Preparation or


Professional Training

◦ States the degrees obtained and the schools


where these degrees were obtained

◦ If you graduated with honors, specify them


 Employment Record

◦ Must start with the latest employment

◦ Mention job tittles and their nature, and


responsibilities required, accomplishments and
promotions as well as the inclusive dates of
employment
 Summary of Skills

◦ This can also be called Skills and Abilities,


Special Skills, Highlights of Skills
◦ Special skills such as computer know-how are
mentioned here
◦ Mention here the seminars of trainings you
underwent in connection to your special skills
 Other pertinent miscellaneous information

◦ Membership and Officership in Organizations

◦ Language or dialects spoken


 Character References

◦ As courtesy, be sure to ask permission from


people you will use as your character
references, ideally three or four credible
individuals who may be your past instructors
and employers who know what type of person
you are, and who are familiar with your work.

consideration format, other entries should be
divided into distinct sections with appropriate
headings.

3.Revise the resume, Proofread carefully. Be


consistent in your style, font size and others.

Important Reminders in Writing a Resume

 Arrange the parts of resume according to your


purpose.
 The content must be thoroughly checked to

avoid errors.
 Do not use the pronoun “I”.
 Do not write the word “Resume” in the heading.
 Avoid using humor and anecdotes.
 This is primarily used when applying for an
international scholarship, scientific or research
position or when applying for a fellowship or
grants.
 Like a resume, it includes your name, contact

information, education, skills and experience,


publications, professional associations and
licenses.
Curriculum Vitae and Resume
 Length – Curriculum vitae is longer, more
detailed synopsis of background and skills.

 Content- Since a curriculum vitae is more


detailed and comprehensive, it is longer.

 Purpose- Curriculum vitae is used in applying for


an international scholarship, and the likes while
resume is more on plying for a job.
