Symptoms: treatment:
-excessive worry & tension -CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy)
-unrealistic view of problems -medications(SSRIs , Benzodiazepines)
-feeling edgy
-muscle tension
prophylaxis:
-sweating -reduce caffeine intake
-difficulty concentrating -ask your pharmacist or doctor before taking any drugs
-nausea -exercise daily & eat a balanced healthy diet
-frequent urination
-seek counseling & support after any traumatic
-tiredness experiences
-insomnia
-practice stress management techniques such as yoga &
-trembling meditation
-being easily startled
PTSD (post traumatic stress
disorder)
Main symptoms: Treatment:
-reliving the traumatic event (distressing, unwanted
memories, nightmares, flashbacks) accompanied with

-fear that will notice that you look anxious -sweating
-fear of physical symptoms that cause you -upset stomach or nausea

-avoid doing things or speaking to people
-dizziness or light headness
-avoid being the center of attention
-feeling that your mind gone blank
-analyzing your social performance
-muscle tension
-expecting the worst consequences during social
situations
Avoiding social situations:
-interacting with strangers
-attending parties & social gatherings
-going to work or school
-starting conversations
-making eye contact
-dating
-entering a room in which people are already seated
-returning items to a store
-eating in front of others
-using a public restroom
Panic disorder:
Symptoms:
-sudden onset of palpitations
-chest pain
-chocking sensations
-dizziness
-depersonalizations
-secondary fear of dying, losing control or going mad
Treatment:
CBT by inducing symptoms:
-intentional hyperventilation for light headness
-spinning in a chair for dizziness & disorientation
-straw breathing for dysnea & airway constriction
-breath holding for sensation of being out of breath
-running in place for increased heart rate & respiration
-body tensing for sensation of being tense & vigilant
Medications used for treating
anxiety disorders: Remember not to self medicate
Anti depressants:
-SSRIs (serotonin selective reuptake inhibitors)
-SNRIs (serotonin norepinephrine reuptake
inhibitors)
-TAC (tricyclic anti depressants)
-anti histaminics
-beta blockers
-benzodiazepines (for short term)
Cognitive fusions:
Fusion with past: Fusion with reasons:
-regret -I am too Y
-blame over past events -Z might happen
-idealizing the past -C says I should not do this

Fusion with future: Fusion with rules:


-worrying -I must not make mistakes
-predicting the worst -she needs to change before I do this
-predicting failure or rejection -I can not go to work when I feel this way

Fusion with self-concept: Fusion with judgments:


-negative self-judgment -past, future, self ,others, thoughts, body, behavior, life
& anything
-positive self-judgment
These fusions overlap and does not
cover the entire spectrum
Panic attack symptoms:
- Sense of approaching doom or -abdominal cramping
danger -chest pain
- Fear of loss of control or death -headache
- Rapid heart rate -dizziness
- Sweating -numbness
- Trembling or shaking -feeling detached from reality
- Shortness of breath or tightness
in your throat
- Chills
- Hot flashes

Suicidal thoughts symptoms:
