The context
 The soldiers of Bravo Company 2-16 Infantry had
been under fire all morning from rocket-propelled
grenades and small arms on the first day of
Operation Ilaaj in Baghdad.

 Two Apache attack helicopters, code-named

Crazyhorse 18 and 19, headed out to help the
ground troops clear insurgents from an area of the
New Baghdad district of the Iraqi capital.

Attack on the personnel
 06:18:40 Crazyhorse (lead helicopter) notices a group of people
on an open plaza.

 06:20:05 Crazyhorse: "Have five to six individuals with AK47s.

Request permission to engage."
 06:21:09 First shots fired at the group.
Attack on the van
 06:25:26 Helicopters
notice a mini-van
arriving, attempting to
help Saeed.

 06:25:58 Crazyhorse:
"Roger. Break. Uh
Crazyhorse One-Eight
request permission to
uh engage.“

 06:26:29 Bushmaster
gives permission to
engage. Proceed to
open fire on the mini-
van.

07:18 “Bushmaster; Crazyhorse. We have individuals going to the
scene, looks like possibly uh picking up bodies and weapons.”
07:25 “Let me engage.”
07:28 “Can I shoot?”
 The aftermath
 Attack on personnel: Seven men were killed, including Noor-Eldeen and
Chmagh, with three others being wounded.
 Attack on the van:  Three other men, while two children, not known to be in
the van to the U.S. forces, were injured.

 Conclusion
Many incidents happened during the Iraq war,
but the “Collateral murder-Iraq” is a lesson in
which every soldier and the future generations of
soldiers needs to learn that the paranoia leads to
untruthful interpretation which leads to greater
consequences, in our case killing the civilians
creating a chain event with the possibility of
losing not only the support of the locals and even
from our home country.
