Under Social Security Act a member holds office for three year from the date of notification

CHAIRMAN GOVERNING BODY

 To be appointed by Government by notification in official


gazette of one of following:
 Minister Labour, Government of Sindh or a person who is
or has been a judge of the High Court or a Senior officer in
the service of Province not below the rank of a
commissioner of a Division or Secretary to Government,
and such person shall be the Chairman of the Governing
Body.

POWERS AND FUNCTIONS
OF GOVERNING BODY, SESSI

The main powers and functions of the Governing Body as


provided in the Sindh Employees’ Social Security Act, 2016 are as
under:

 To approve the budget estimates, audited accounts and annual


reports of the institution as provided under Section 6 of the Act,
2016.
 To call for any information or direct any research to be made for
the furtherance of the objects as provided under Section 6 of the
Act, 2016.

 To employ such officers and staff for the administration to
run the affairs of the Institution as provided under
Section 19 of the Act, 2016.
 To make regulations for effective and efficient running of
the Institution as provided under Section 84 of the Act,
2016.
 To take decisions about the investment of Institution’s
funds as provided under Section 29(3) of the Act, 2016.

CONTRIBUTION

At present rate of contribution is 6% payable

by the employer on the wages as determined

in the provision of SESS Act 2016.

BENEFITS
The Social Security Scheme is providing benefits to certain (secured)
employees or their dependents in the event of sickness, injury, death,
iddat and for matters ancillary thereto. The main benefits admissible
under the Social Security Scheme broadly fall under two categories:

ACHIEVEMENTS
 Sindh Employees’ Social Security (Amendment) Act, 2018
implemented. 
 Online Registration of Employers started through Sindh
Business Registration Portal and SESSI website.
 Brochures/Pamphlets have been printed in English, Urdu
and Sindh Language for general public awareness about
Social Security Scheme.
 SESSI is distributing compensation released from German
Company KIK to the victims of M/s. Ali Enterprises,
Baldia with the collaboration of I.L.O.
 Rehabilitation of SESSI Hospitals and Dispensaries.
 Supply of branded medicines from the reputed
Pharmaceuticals companies to secured workers & their
dependents

ACHIEVEMENTS
 80 Slice CT Scan installed at Kulsoombai Valika Social
Security SITE Hospital.
 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) established with patient
ventilators and Blood Gas analyzer (ABG machine) at KV
SITE and Landhi Hospital.
  Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is established with
baby Ventilators, baby incubators and Baby Warmer at
KV SITE and Landhi Hospital.
  Hysterogram is provided first time in history of SESSI for
diagnosis of Female Patients with gynecological problems
at KV SITE and Landhi Hospital.
  Endoscopy Suit established first time in history of SESSI
at Landhi Hospital.

ACHIEVEMENTS
 Fully automatic labs are established at KV SITE and
Landhi Hospital.
 New building of Madina Dispensary SITE Karachi has
been constructed.
 Social Security Sukkur Dispensary has been reconstructed.
 Construction of Nawabshah (Benazirabad) Dispensary.
 25 Bedded Hospital has been established in SITE area
Sukkur. 
 25 Bedded Hospital in Dharki, work in progress. 
 Construction of Nursing School at S.S. Landhi Hospital.
 Construction of Casualty at S.S. Landhi Hospital.
 Construction of Nursing School and Hostel at KVSS
Hospital.

FUTURE PLANS

 Universalization of Social Security.


 Automation in SESSI.
 Construction of new Dispensaries in Bhittai Abad,
Gulshan-e-Maymar, Old Shershah and Memon Goth
District Malir.

 Installation of Separate Sui Gas and Electric Meters


at KVSSH and Landhi Hospitals.
