Licensing guidelines for products

of Kaspersky Lab

Maria Mitricheva, Senior Licensing Policy Manager, Kaspersky Lab

1/ Key-note terminology
Licensing

Licensing – a set of rules, according

to which KL as vendor distributes its
products to partners

License – internal term that is used for

indication of end-user right to use the
product purchased (or received for
free) and installed on one license
object

PAGE 3 | Kaspersky Lab PowerPoint Template | 4/8/20

License objects

License object – physical or virtual entity that is intended to be protected by KL product.

The number of license objects are calculated in order to count the required number of
licenses to be sold.
Currently KL uses the following license objects:
• User
• Mail user
• Node
• MDM-node
• SM-node
• Desktop
• Traffic per day
• Device
• Virtual server
• PDA
• etc.

PAGE 4 | Kaspersky Lab PowerPoint Template | 4/8/20

License objects
Factor

Factor – tool that allows to adjust percentage of licenses objects assigned to one product.
Example
Customer buys 1000 licenses for Kaspersky Total Security for Business:
which and how many license objects it is able to protect?
In this example Customer will be able to
License object: Factor for Node
protect not more than 1000 Nodes
Node 100% (workstations, PDAs, file servers)
In this example Customer will be able to
License object:
Factor for MDM-node manage not more than the number of
MDM-node protected PDAs only
Kaspersky License object: Factor for SM-node
In this example Customer will be able to
Total manage not more than 1000 Nodes
SM-node 100% (workstations, PDAs, file servers)
Security
for Business In this example Customer will be able to
License object: Factor for Mail user protect not more than 1500 Mail users
Mail user 150% (mailboxes or e-mail addresses)
In this example Customer will be able to
License object: Factor for Node
protect not more than 1100 Nodes
Node 110% under Gateway
In this example Customer will be able to
License object: Factor for User
protect not more than 1000 Users of
User 100% collaboration server

Key files and activation codes (activation 1.0)

Key file is a binary file that allows the user to activate application. It contains the following
info:
Unique ID number of the application,
Unique ID number of the product,
A flag that says if the key file is trial,
Date when the key file was created,
Date when the key file expires,
License period (in days).

Activation code – unique code of a certain format that enables KL product activation by
making it send the request to Kaspersky activation servers and retrieving the information on
related key file.

Add-on of Key files

If customer needs additional protection during license period the new key file is issued.

Additional key file is co-termed with the initial key file so they expire together

Please note that Up-sell purchase orders are only processed if 3 or more months are left before

PAGE 11 | Kaspersky Lab PowerPoint Template | 4/8/20
Consolidation Key files

License Key consolidation – combining additional key files with existing key files to create one
combined key file for total quantity of protected license objects. This allows the customer to
manage one key file in lieu of managing multiple keys

Consolidated key files should be issued only for orders with mail and collaboration
protection and Security Center functionality (mobile device management, systems
management). Since only single license can be installed on a server.

Only identical product can be combined into a consolidated key file.

Charging customer is done through issuing additional order without key file to be delivered.

Additional New Key file for 1500 licenses is issued and delivered

PAGE 12 | Kaspersky Lab PowerPoint Template | 4/8/20

Activation codes (activation 2.0)

Activation code – unique code of a certain format that enables KL product activation by
making it send the request to Kaspersky activation servers and retrieving the information on
related tickets and/or key files.

Ticket is a binary file that allows the user to activate and use an application. It
makes regular automatic cross-checks between applications installed and Kaspersky
activation servers about the customer’s right to use the applications

PAGE 13 | Kaspersky Lab PowerPoint Template | 4/8/20

Activation codes (activation 2.0)

Activation 2.0 (based on tickets) allows to prevent over-installation of the licenses through
its constant cross-checks between applications and KL activation servers

Also it allows to see the exact date of installation and the real expiration date

And last but not least, information regarding any up-sell order is updated on activation
servers accordingly and a customer (namely Security Center) gets updated ticket with the
next cross-check and can deploy this up-sell quantity.
No add-on activation codes or key files any more!

PAGE 14 | Kaspersky Lab PowerPoint Template | 4/8/20

Activation codes (activation 2.0)

For new B2B product line KL introduces activation scheme based on activation codes
(compatible both with activation 1.0 and activation 2.0)
Kaspersky Security Center 10 will automatically retrieve from KL activation servers all
required tickets and/or key files for software installation
Please note, that currently only EP10 for Windows, EP for Mobile, SC10 (incl. MDM and
SM) are working on activation 2.0 system (based on tickets)

Activation code can be installed in Security Center in a Simulation mode:

the code is not activated
the code allows to see what product and how many licenses were purchased, what
applications are available for installation
Activation code should be activated within its pre-installation shelf-life
There is no possibility to install activation code locally as a reserve

How many KES4B licenses are required

Quantity of KES products licenses required is counted basing on total number of

endpoints (workstations, laptops, mobile devices and servers) to be protected
The number of other license objects included in KES products is calculated basing on
the percentage of the total number of protected endpoints (factor)
Example
A customer purchases 100 licenses of Kaspersky Total
Security for Business. The customer will be able:
To protect and to manage (with SM-module) up to 100
endpoints (100%)
To manage mobiles devices within the number of KES-
protected PDAs
To protect up to 150 mail users (150%), incl. Anti-Spam
protection
To protect up to 100 users of collaboration server/s
(100%)
To protect up to 110 nodes behind Internet gateways
(110%)

PAGE 24 | Kaspersky Lab PowerPoint Template | 4/8/20

Splitting orders across multiple KES products

Kaspersky Lab will not process orders from one customer that are split across multiple KES products.
But a client is able to combine KES product with any of the targeted products in one purchase (e.g.
Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business, Select + Kaspersky Systems Management).
Example 1
A customer wants to protect its150 nodes in total and to encrypt 50 of these nodes only.

Licensing of Kaspersky Security Center functionality
Cocurrent licensing of Systems Management

Factor for Systems Management (SM) functionality of Security Center (SC) is 100%
This factor is applied to the whole number of licenses purchased
SM functionality of SC can be applied independently from endpoint protection. SM
functionality of SC may be distributed on endpoints that are not protected by Kaspersky
Endpoint Security (KES)

SC
KES + SM

PAGE 26 | Kaspersky Lab PowerPoint Template | 4/8/20

Licensing of Kaspersky Security Center functionality
Concurrent licensing of Mobile Device Management

Mobile Device Management (MDM) functionality of SC is applied to a number of mobile devices

which are intended to get Kaspersky Endpoint Security protection.
This number is calculated by SC as the whole number of licenses purchased lessened by the
number of workstations and servers protected by KES.
MDM functionality of SC may be distributed on smartphones that are not protected by Kaspersky
Endpoint Security - e.g. for mobile devices with iOS platform that does not require endpoint
protection

PAGE 30 | Kaspersky Lab PowerPoint Template | 4/8/20

Kaspersky Systems Management
License installation specifics

If a customer wants to manage with SM-module less nodes that are already connected to
existing SC administration server, than it should create separate administration server for
required SM-nodes
Otherwise SC will constantly generate notifications about exceeding limit of managed nodes

On the other hand if a customer wants to increase a number of SM-nodes on existing SC

administration server, creation of separate administration server is not required for such
additional licenses of a product with SM functionality

Calculations of cost of Upgrade

Upgrade during the license period

The cost of upgrading is calculated using the following formula:
(New SKU price – Old SKU price) / (License term in days) *
* (Number of days till the end of active period)* (Total quantity of licenses purchased)
Basic practice of determining how much time is actually left on the original license:
date of license installation is taken as starting date of license active period, and all
non-used days within license term are counted
Example
Company originally purchased 25 licenses for KBSS 1 Year Base.
6 months later after this purchase it wants to upgrade its 25 licenses to KES4B, Advanced.
The total cost is calculated as following:
(SKU price KES4B, Advanced Base1year Band:25-49 - SKU price KBSS Base1year Band:25-49) /
/ 365 days * 182 days * 25 licenses =
=($71.50 - $26) / 365 * 182 * 25 = $567.19
182 days – is the period that is left before the original license is expired
All examples of calculations of the cost in this document are for illustration purposes only
Prices for calculations are taken from EEMEA price proposal for 2013

PAGE 35 | Kaspersky Lab PowerPoint Template | 4/8/20

Calculations of cost of Upgrade

Upgrade upon expiration of the license period

Special Upgrade SKU in price-list should be used.

The renewal SKUs should no longer be used for this purpose.
Currently, EM price-lists do not have Upgrade SKUs for B2B products. The upgrade is done at a
standard renewal price for the new product.

Example
Company originally purchased 55 licenses for KBSS 1 Year Base.
It wants to renew for next year and simultaneously upgrade to KES4B, Advanced.
The total cost is calculated as following:
SKU price KES4B, Advanced Renewal 1year Band:50-99 * 55 licenses =
= $45 * 55 = $2475

All examples of calculations of the cost in this document are for illustration purposes only
Prices for calculations are taken from EEMEA price proposal for 2013

PAGE 36 | Kaspersky Lab PowerPoint Template | 4/8/20

Basic migration scenarios to Kaspersky Security for Business
Up-sell

Up-sell is a purchasing of additional licenses of a product initially purchased

Up-sell is possible to do within the effective license term or while renewing a customer
Up-sell is welcome for upgrade scenarios as well

For processing up-sell orders general rules of band selection are applied

PAGE 37 | Kaspersky Lab PowerPoint Template | 4/8/20

Band selection for price calculation

Additional (up-sell) orders

Additional licenses are purchased at the band price equal to the price for initial order band
Special marketing actions and/or special discounts that influenced the price for initial order (end-
user discount) are not effective for additional purchase
If the up-sell quantity is greater than the initial order band and puts them into a higher band, then
the new purchase price is that of the new higher band
Emerging Markets specifics: in case of  all Upsell orders, you sum up the total number of
licenses and take the price from this resulting band
Example 1 (General approach)
Company originally purchased 750 licenses and it wants to purchase an additional 250 licenses,
The additional 250 licenses should be purchased at the 500-999 band pricing.
Example 2 (General approach)
Company originally purchased 750 licenses and it wants to purchase an additional 1100 licenses,
The additional 1100 licenses should be purchased at the 1000-1499 band pricing.
Example 3 (Emerging Markets)
Company originally purchased 200 licenses and it wants to purchase an additional 100 licenses,
The additional 100 licenses should be purchased at the 250-499 band pricing.

PAGE 38 | Kaspersky Lab PowerPoint Template | 4/8/20

Band selection and calculation cost of up-sell

Up-sell during the license period

The cost is calculated using the following formula:

(SKU price) / (License term in days)  * (Number of days till the end of active period) *
* (Quantity of additional licenses purchased)
Basic practice of determining how much time is actually left on the original license:
date of license installation is taken as starting date of license active period, and
all non-used days within license term are counted
Example
Company originally purchased 20 licenses for KBSS 1 Year Base.
It wants to migrate to KES4B, Select and purchase an additional 5 licenses for 150 days that it
has before expiration date of original license.
The cost of up-sell is calculated as following:
SKU price KES4B, Select Base 1 Year Band:25-49 / 365 days * 150 days * 5 licenses =
= $30.50 / 365 * 150 * 5 = $62.67
SKU price is referred to price per license not per license pack
Prices for calculations are taken from EEMEA price proposal for 2013

  PAGE 39 | Kaspersky Lab PowerPoint Template | 4/8/20

Band selection and calculation cost of up-sell

Up-sell upon expiration of the license period

The total cost of renewing licenses previously purchased and at the same time buying the additional
licenses is calculated using the following formula:
Renewal SKU price * total quantity1 of licenses
General rule: additional licenses are purchased at the band price equal to the price of initial order band

Example
Company originally purchased 20 licenses for KBSS.
It wants to renew to KES4B, Select for 1 year and to buy an additional 14 licenses.

The total cost is calculated as following:

SKU price KES4B, Select Renewal 1 Year Band:25-49 * 34 licenses =
= $21.50 * 34 = $731
SKU price is referred to price per license not per license pack
Prices for calculations are taken from EEMEA price proposal for 2013
1
Total quantity of licenses to be renewed is calculated by summing initial order quantity and quantity of all further up-sell orders
Consequent renewals should be associated with directly preceding renewal order.

PAGE 40 | Kaspersky Lab PowerPoint Template | 4/8/20

Basic migration scenarios to Kaspersky Security for Business
Add-on
For smooth migration of KESS and KTSS customers that have protect ion of mail, web, collaboration infrastructure apart
from endpoints, KL introduces Add-on offer

Add-on is a special pricing program for customers purchasing:

Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business, Select
or
Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business, Advanced

Add-on products:
Kaspersky Security for Mail Server
Kaspersky Security for Internet Gateway
Kaspersky Security for Collaboration

License type and customer segment discounts are not applied to Add-on product SKUs
An order for Add-on SKU should be placed as associated to initial order for KES4B
In case the initial order for KES4B, Select or KES4B, Advanced is canceled the order/s for Add-on SKUs associated with it
will be blocked in KORM automatically.
All above mentioned migration scenarios cover only key expected cases – full migration scenarios list can be found at

Band combining in Kaspersky Security for Virtualization sales

Kaspersky Security for Virtualization, Desktop and Kaspersky Security for Virtualization, Server are
separate products for KSV (for desktop and for server) set up in a price-list.
Volume discount does not apply to combined sales of these products. Namely, it is not allowed to use total
combined band for selling them to a customer.
Each KSV product should be processed in separate order for the exact number of virtual desktops or

Cross-sales of KSV and KES products

KSV does not replace KES. These are separate products with different functionality
scope
KSV products are objects to royalty payments to our technology partner.
Kaspersky Lab (KL) pays royalty for each KSV license sold
KSV is not included in KES bundles
So there are no upgrade/downgrade migration scenarios from KES to KSV and
special upgrade/downgrade pricing calculations for such cases
Only cross-sales are available for KES and KSV

counted in order to determine the total number of licenses purchased

Scenario 2
Only external users have access to collaboration server/s

250 licenses per each server to be protected should be sold to the customer

Additional licensing procedures

Renewal right restriction (after expiration of license term)

Cross-grade licensing

PAGE 64 | Kaspersky Lab PowerPoint Template | 4/8/20

Renewal right restriction

Client can buy renewal license only during

definite time period past from the date of
expiration of the previous license
Emerging Markets practice: Renewal SKU is
no longer available 1 year after expiration of the
original license
At the end of this time period the product is no
longer offered on conditions of renewal. License
can be purchased only as base – at full price
without renewal discounts
Prior license key file/activation code information
is required for processing renewal order
Renewal licenses are issued for the same
product and the same license quantity that are
indicated in initial order. However, up-sell is
possible

PAGE 65 | Kaspersky Lab PowerPoint Template | 4/8/20

Cross-grade licensing

Cross-grade licensing is available for:

• the same type of competitor corporate anti-virus software product
and
• the same quantity of licenses of this competitor product to be
replaced with KL product

Trial licenses of competitor product are not accepted for cross-grade

licensing
Emerging Markets practice: cross-grade licensing is available for
purchase during the effective period of end user license agreement
with any vendor of anti-virus software product and within one month
after this end user license agreement expiration.
Additional licenses of KL product (up to 150%) can be purchased at
cross-grade pricing within three months after original order.
After expiration of KL cross-grade license customer should be sold
renewal license, not cross-grade
Local offices reserve the right to check and verify the correctness of
selling cross-grade licenses
