SYNOPSIS:
• Notice board is primary thing in any institution or organization or public
utility places like bus stops, railway stations or parks. But sending various
notices day to day is a tedious process. This paper deals with advanced
notice board. It presents an SMS based notice board incorporating the
widely used GSM to facilitate the communication of displaying message on
notice board via user’s mobile phone. Its operation is based on
microcontroller ATMEGA32 programmed in assembly language. A SIM300
GSM modem with a SIM card is interfaced to the ports of the
microcontroller with the help of AT commands.

• When the user sends a SMS via a registered number from his mobile phone, it is
received by SIM300 GSM modem at the receiver’s end. SIM300 is duly interfaced
through a level shifter IC MAX32 to the microcontroller. The messaged is thus
fetched into the microcontroller. It is further displayed on an electronic notice
board which equipped with LCD display interfaced to microprocessor powered by a
regulated power supply from mains supply of 230 volts ac. This project is our
experiment on real time noticing.
BLOCK DIAGRAM:
CIRCUIT DIAGRAM:
How to Operate?

• Write the program to the wireless electronic  notice board using keil software
• Now burn the program to the microcontroller with the help of flash magic.
• Give the connections as per the circuit diagram.
• Use power supply circuit to provide 5V DC to the microcontroller
• Insert the SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) to the GSM module.
•  Now switch on the supply
• Send SMS to the GSM module using other mobile
• Now you can see the same message on LCD.
SIMCOM SIM900A GSM Module:

This is actual SIM900 GSM module which is manufactured by SIMCOM . Designed for global
market, SIM900 is a quad-band GSM/GPRS engine that works on frequencies GSM 850MHz,
EGSM 900MHz, DCS 1800MHz and PCS 1900MHz. SIM900 features GPRS multi-slot class 10/
class 8 (optional) and supports the GPRS coding schemes CS-1, CS-2, CS-3 and CS-4. With a tiny
configuration of 24mm x 24mm x 3mm, SIM900 can meet almost all the space requirements in
User’s applications, such as M2M, smart phone, PDA and other mobile devices.

MAX232 IC:
The MAX232 is an integrated circuit that converts signals from an RS-232
serial port to signals suitable for use in TTL compatible digital logic circuits,
so that devices works on TTL logic can share the data with devices
connected through Serial port (DB9 Connector).
PIC MICROCONTROLLER:

• CPU: CPU is not different from other

microcontrollers CPU. PIC microcontroller CPU
consists of Arithmetic logic unit (ALU), memory
unit (MU), control unit (CU), Accumulator etc.
we know that ALU mainly used for arithmetic
operations and taking the logical decisions,
memory used for storing the instruction which
is to processed and also storing the
instructions after processing, Control unit is
used for controlling the all the peripherals
which are connected to the CPU both internal
peripherals and external peripherals.
Accumulator is used for storing the results and
used for further processing. As we said earlier
PIC micro controller supports the RISC
architecture that is reduced instruction set
COMPUTER.
LCD DISPLAY 16X2:

16×2 Liquid Crystal Display which will display the 32 characters at a time in two rows (16
characters in one row). Each character in the display of size 5×7 pixel matrix, Although this
matrix differs for different 16×2 LCD modules if you take JHD162A this matrix goes to 5×8.
This matrix will not be same for all the 16×2 LCD modules. There are 16 pins in the LCD
module, the pin configuration us given below
POWERSUPPLY:

A power supply is a hardware COMONENT that supplies power to an electrical

device. It receives power from an electrical outlet and converts the current from
AC (alternating current) to DC (direct current), which is what the computer
requires. It also regulates the voltage to an adequate amount, which allows the
computer to run smoothly without overheating. The power supply an integral
part of any computer and must function correctly for the rest of the components
to work.
ADVANTAGE:
• The circuit is portable.
• No need of any complex wires to display the message on LCD as it is
wireless.
• Consumes less power and easy to operate.

APPLICATION:
• Used in bus stations, railway stations, parks, etc. to display the messages wirelessly
• This Project is used in colleges and organizations.
