GLOBAL INDUSTRY SCENARIO


The global spice and culinary herb industry comprise of many plants having diverse
and uses including culinary, medicinal etc. the industry also consist of spice derivatives
like essential oils, oleoresin, spice oils etc. according to international trade estimate
about 85% of spices and culinary herbs and traded in dried form. These spices are word
production and processing centers of spices and culinary herbs. Canada is fast
emerging as one of the leading players in the international spice and herb industry.
There are certain countries acting as leading producers and traders of some particular
spices and culinary herbs.
INDIAN SCENARIO

India has traditionally been known for its spice and culinary herb production. It is
one of the largest spice producing and consuming country. Its strategic location,
climatic conditions etc. Advanced production processes and availability of cheap labor
makes it advantageous for the producers to ensure large scale production in quality
herbs and spices. India is one of the major exporters of spices among the competitors

2.ORGANISATIONAL ANALYSIS
NATURE OF ORGANISATION

Spices are defined as “A strongly flavored or aromatic substance of vegetable origin


obtained from tropical plants, commonly used as a condiment”. In Adimali main plant, plant
packing of chilly, turmeric and coriander, production of rice powders, production of pickles
both vegetarian and non-vegetarian; packing of seed etc… is taking place. In masala powder
division plant various masalas like meat masala, chicken masala, channa masala, gharam
masala, sambar powder; rasam powder etc is taking place.

IT’S BUSINESS

Eastern Condiments Pvt Ltd. produces and markets spices and food products. It offers spice
powders, spice mixes, masala blends, pickles, breakfast powders, whole seeds, beverages,
rice powders, ready to cook products, and other products. The company sells its products
through distributors. It exports its products to Europe, the United States, and the Middle east,
and internationally. The company was founded in 1989 and is based in Kochi, India with
additional offices in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore. Eastern Condiments Pvt Ltd. operates as a

FINANCIAL ASPECTS

Finance is the lifeblood and nerve centre of a business, just as


circulation of blood is essential in the human body for maintaining life,
finance is a very essential to smooth running of the business. There for
financial analysis is very significant as far as present day trend is
concerned. Spices industry and business is fast growing one. The
authorized equity share capital of the company is Rs. 150000000/-
divided into 15000000 shares of Rs. 10 each (as at 31/03/2016). General
reserve of the company is Rs.88045000 (as at 31/03/2016). The
company has a daily working capital of Rs.3 Crores and the banking
partners is FEDERAL BANK. Company has no debentures. The yearly

3.POSITIONING OF THE INTERN & HIS / HER ROLE
DEPARTMENTS ALLOTED
During my internship period I allotted in each department
according to the needs of the organization and that helps to the organization as well as me
to complete the internship successfully. When a task is completed, I need to report the
department head, but the deviation of schedules, leaves and reports making is concerned to
the HR manager. As per task and duties in departments my department head varies. But the
overall works,

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To study about the organization as a whole

To study about the functioning of the different departments in the organization, Eastern
Condiments Adimali.

To complete the various tasks (explain the different tasks given) given by the different
departments

To study the overall functioning of the organization and assisting (where all assisted) in the
works of the different departments.
ROLE/DUTIES /RESPONSIBILITIES

.Visited various departments in the organization and understood the working


environment in the organization.

.Maintains the organization staff ( production staffs) by giving information and


making them aware about the need of the efficiency and making them more
productive and to supervise them.

.Prepare the overall efficiency of the equipment’s and report them and assisting
the maintenance manager.

.Assisting in the various departments, (maintenance, Engineering, Human


resource, marketing etc.) departments.

.Assisting the various departments in performing the day to day jobs


BRIEF DETAILING ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP

It was a 45 day(s)Delete internship. Got an opportunity to identify the


various duties and responsibilities that under taken by the different
departments and how a company carries their work and learn how to
deal with others, their culture, the rules that followed by the company.
Got an idea about that the Eastern manufacturing process that held in a
company. This internship was an opportunity to interact with different
managers and it gives learning about how to interact with different
persons and gives knowledge about how to handle problems.

I was assigned to mainly maintenance & marketing department

5.CONTRIBUTION OF THE INTERN TO THE
ORGANISATION

■ By arriving on time for assigned work, , and dressing up to the


standards of the organizations and the work being performed I get an
opportunity to establish the high level of professionalism.
■ Respected the organization’s reporting structure and followed the
policies and procedures of the organization.
■ Communicated effectively with the industry guide, and other staff
within the organization, accepted and applied critiques and
suggestions to daily work in an effort to become more productive and
or/ efficient.
■ Completed and submitted the faculty guide weekly time logs.
Completed and discussed with the industry guide the midterm and
final evaluations.
INITIATIVES & RESPONSIBILITIES
■ Visited various departments in the organization and understood the
working environment in the organization.
■ Maintains the work structure by updating work requirements and job
description for all positions.
■ Maintains the organization staff ( production staffs) by counseling
them and making them aware about the need of the efficiency and
making them more productive and to supervise them.
■ Prepare the overall efficiency of the equipment’s and report them and
assisting the maintenance manager.
■ Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and
recommending human resource policies and procedures.
TASK ACCOMPLISHMENTS MADE

■ Assisted the Marketing Manager For Bill Checking And Item Record in
the Excel Sheet
■ Assisted the Maintenance Manager for checking the overall efficiency of
the equipment, vehicle, and tires.
■ Done the jobs at various departments in the organization.
 NEW IDEAS AND CONCEPTS  

■ The idea put forward was to do a systematic follow up on the


calculation of the efficiency in the items .The regular data entry and the
checking of the equipment.
■ Conducting a dealer friendly programmer to market the products to the
customers efficiently.
INVOLVEMENT IN MAJOR ASSIGNMENTS
Assisted the maintenance Manager and completed the overall efficiency equipment calculation for the TPM.
Assisted in the dealer benefit scheme.

6.LEARNING FROM THE INTERNSHIP


This is a descriptive study conducted mainly to
familiarize with the activities, processes, policies, programmers and
procedures followed in the firm. Eastern is the winner of the largest
exporter for spice powders in consumer packs from India by the spices
board for the past 17 years consecutively. To encourage businesses they
set up financial policies. These policies typically regard investing,
taxation, trading, quotas, customs and labor regulations.
7.CONCLUSION
The study conducted Eastern condiments. Pvt. ltd which is one of the pioneer in condiment industry and the market leader in variety of packaged curry powders in south
India. It was a general study regarding the various processing of different plants and aspects of Eastern condiments Pvt. ltd. It is found that a cordial relationship is maintained between all
departments for the smooth functioning and achievement of the company. Eastern has achieved these enviable heights mainly due to the hard work and commitment of quality besides bringing a
good product at right prices to the consumers.

Being a student of MBA, the internship has benefited me with so much of confidence and awareness. The study gave me an opportunity to experience and improves my
practical knowledge besides my theoretical knowledge.
