LOGISTICS INDUSTRY
BOTH IN THE WORLD AND
TURKEY
• The global trade rate of 2016 did not change compared to the last 5 years
and again showed a change of 2.8% below 3%.
• Market research shows that the size of the global logistics sector will
reach US $ 15.5 trillion by 2023. Asia Pacific and North America are
leading this growth.

SECTOR
• Looking at the individual modes of transport, the global value of the air
transport sector is measured at $ 70 billion. Between 2008 and 2013,
the air transport sector created an additional 4.6%. Asian air transport
increased by 6.5%.
• The impact of the logistics sector, which has an important share in the
service sector, in the national economy is an important criterion in
determining the development levels of the countries.

• Turkey, meanwhile, in 2016, 720 billion dollars in actual Gross
Domestic Product (GDP), which is in the share of the logistics industry
$ 100 billion over that consists of logistics services 14% of GDP and
the logistics industry it is stated that employs about 400.000 people.
• Of the 105 billion TL, 0.18% was “railway transportation”, 57.09% was
“road transportation”, 8.65% was “maritime transportation”, 0.57%
was “air transportation”, 1,69 of them are “storage”, 24,68% are

• The logistics sector spent 2015 trying to survive. Only new foreign trade routes
increased. The institutionalization efforts of the sector are continuing. However,
economic and political ups and downs, problems in the Middle East, cost
increases due to efficiency and inefficiency and extremely low profitability.
• Naturally, the first expectation is to ensure political and economic stability in the
country, to complete the investments started, to prevent unfair competition and
informality. Important developments in the sector depend only on the
completion of the ongoing transportation investments and the implementation
of the Transformation from Transport to Logistics Program in Action Plan 10.
LOGISTICS IN TURKEY
• Transportation and Infrastructure Ministry declared "Transport Logistic
Transformation Program Action Plan" in order to support Turkey's export
growth and sustainable development, increasing their contribution to the
logistics of the growth potential in achieving their goals and Logistics
Performance Index, our country in the first 15 countries.
