SECTOR
• The size of the world logistics market is around 5 trillion dollars and at
least 25 percent of every 1 dollar value produced on earth is obtained
from the activities within the scope of logistics.

• It is stated that the size of the EU logistics market is approximately


627 billion Euros.

• World trade growth is slower than expected.

• The global trade rate of 2016 did not change compared to the last 5 years
and again showed a change of 2.8% below 3%.

• 2014 and 2015 showed an overly optimistic outlook with growth


expectations of 4.7% and 5.3%, respectively.

• Import volumes in advanced economies increased by 4.5% in 2015, while


emerging economies stagnated.

• According to the international monetary fund, the size of logistics
services corresponds to 29% of the world GDP. This ratio is measured
as 20% in Turkey.

• Market research shows that the size of the global logistics sector will
reach US $ 15.5 trillion by 2023. Asia Pacific and North America are
leading this growth.

• Looking at the individual modes of transport, the global value of the air
transport sector is measured at $ 70 billion. Between 2008 and 2013,
the air transport sector created an additional 4.6%. Asian air transport
increased by 6.5%.

• 42% of transportation takes place between Europe and North America.


The global value of maritime transport is 54 billion dollars. 80% of the
world trade is carried out by sea transportation operations. Due to the
economic crisis, shipping companies, which are among the top 20
companies between 2008 and 2013, lost value of 6.5 billion dollars.

• The global value of the land transport sector is $ 2 trillion. Land
carriers carry 8 billion tons / year of material transport every year.

• 85% land transportation is preferred at distances less than 150 km


from modern economies.

• Road transport in Eastern Europe is constantly increasing.

• The growth of the logistics sector in a country depends entirely on the
growth of the industrial and commercial sectors. The logistics sector,
which has been developing rapidly in recent years, has a great
importance due to its growth potential within itself and its critical role
in achieving many economic targets and the competitive advantage it
provides.

• The impact of the logistics sector, which has an important share in the
service sector, in the national economy is an important criterion in
determining the development levels of the countries.

• Turkey, meanwhile, in 2016, 720 billion dollars in actual Gross
Domestic Product (GDP), which is in the share of the logistics industry
$ 100 billion over that consists of logistics services 14% of GDP and
the logistics industry it is stated that employs about 400.000 people.

• Logistics and Transportation Sector is the second sector after the


Travel and Tourism Sector with a return of more than 14 Billion Dollars
in terms of foreign exchange earning sectors.

• In Turkey, the "load" the size of the related logistics activities, can be
considered as 105 billion.

• Of the 105 billion TL, 0.18% was “railway transportation”, 57.09% was
“road transportation”, 8.65% was “maritime transportation”, 0.57%
was “air transportation”, 1,69 of them are “storage”, 24,68% are
“other supporting activities acente (agencies, ports, handling etc.) and
7,13% are“ postal and courier activities.. Only the "burden" for the
size of the logistics sector in Turkey is TL 105 billion is 6% of GDP,

• The logistics sector spent 2015 trying to survive. Only new foreign trade routes
increased. The institutionalization efforts of the sector are continuing. However,
economic and political ups and downs, problems in the Middle East, cost
increases due to efficiency and inefficiency and extremely low profitability.

• Naturally, the first expectation is to ensure political and economic stability in the
country, to complete the investments started, to prevent unfair competition and
informality. Important developments in the sector depend only on the
completion of the ongoing transportation investments and the implementation
of the Transformation from Transport to Logistics Program in Action Plan 10.

• Transportation and Infrastructure Ministry declared "Transport Logistic
Transformation Program Action Plan" in order to support Turkey's export
growth and sustainable development, increasing their contribution to the
logistics of the growth potential in achieving their goals and Logistics
Performance Index, our country in the first 15 countries.

• In this framework, in order to make efficient and efficient planning in the


field of logistics, actions have been determined on legislation, customs,
infrastructure, domestic / international logistics centers and increasing
the competitiveness of companies with this action plan.
