GUYANA

Guyana  officially the Co-
operative Republic of Guyana,
is a country on the northern
mainland of South America.
It is the only English speaking

is culturally considered part of
the Anglophone-Caribbean
 sphere.

 English is the official language
of Guyana, which is the only South
American country with English as the official

Indian syntax) is widely spoken in Guyana.
 A number of Amerindian languages are also
spoken by a minority of the population. These
include Cariban languages such

and Arawakan languages such as Arawak (or
Lokono) and Wapishana.
TOURISM
 Guyana Tourism: if you take a trip to
Guyana you can expect to get a lot of good
food, kind of reminding you of Asian food,
the waterfall are very beautiful, especially
after the two rainy seasons, where the
wildlife is most beautiful.
 The wildlife in there is very wide, exotic
bird species, there are ant eaters, jaguars,
lions, and lots of night bugs.
 Some recommended places for Guyana are
Georgetown, Rowe eco lodge, awarmie
mountain.

Guyana Food

 Bake:
Bake is a kind of bread that I have
mostly seen served for breakfast.
The most interesting thing about it
is that it isn’t baked at all. This is
a traditional Guyanese food: it is a
plain white flour dough lightly
fried. It’s usually served nice and
warm.
 Cassava Bread:
Cassava bread is another staple
traditional Guyanese food. It’s a
kind of flat bread made with
grated cassava, that is commonly
used to accompany meals or to be
eaten as a snack.
 Pepperpot:
It’s a dish made with stewed meat
which is flavored with cinnamon,
cassareep (a sauce made from the
root of cassava) and other
ingredients. Any kind of meat can
be used to make it – beef, pork and
mutton. Some also use chicken and
a vegetarian version is becoming
more common.
GEOGRAPHY
The Geography of Guyana comprises the physical
characteristics of the country in Northern South America
and part of Caribbean South America, bordering the
North Atlantic Ocean, between Suriname and Venezuela,
with a land area of approximately 214,969 square
kilometres.
GEOGRAPHICAL REGIONS

Guyana can be divided into

four main geographical
regions; there's a narrow
and swampy coastal plain, a Kaieteur Falls
hillier sandy region in the
east; the (15,000 sq km)
Rupununi Savannah of the
south, and the tropical rain
forests and interior
highlands - central and
west.
CLIMATE
Temperatures in Georgetown are
quite constant, with an average
high of 32 °C (89.6 °F) and an
average low of 24 °C (75.2 °F) in
the hottest month (July), and an
average range of 29 to 23 °C (84.2
to 73.4 °F) in February, the
coolest month.

The highest temperature ever

recorded in the capital was 37.7
°C (99.9 °F) and the lowest 16.6
°C (61.9 °F). Humidity averages 70
percent year-round.
GEOGRAPHY
Torrential rain, a deluge, an
inundation of parts of the
Coastland, in short - the country's
worst natural disaster, was the
experience of Guyanese during the
January-February period.
The average amount of rainfall in
Guyana for the month of January
for the past 100 years is 7.3 inches.
However, the country witnessed
more than seven times that in
January 2005 - some 52 inches.
NATIONAL ANIMAL AND BIRD

Wildlife in Guyana benefits from

the river system and the dense
jungle, which create its perfect
habitat. Among Guyana animals,
there are the elusive Jaguar,
Capibaras, Black Caimans, the
Giant Anteater, and one-of-a-kind
birds such as the Harpy Eagle and
Cock-of-the-Rock. There are more
than 900 species of birds in
Guyana; 225 species of animals;
880 species of reptiles and more
than 6500 different species of trees
and plants.
