to consider all of the information that identifies the
risks and hazards within the local community. As
situations change that may impact on hazards and
risks in the community, disaster risk management is a
fluid process.
‡ t does not need to be a formal study, but needs to be
a structured process that incorporates the likelihood
and consequences of hazards in priority.
‡ The likelihood and consequences of hazards may be
gauged by looking at previous studies, but considers
current and future risks. Disaster risk assessment
needs to be accountable, however
