Architectural Acoustics
-
* Architectural acoustics
can be defined as the study
of the generation,
propagation and
transmission of sound in
rooms, dwellings and other
buildings.

* Acoustics - “ The
Science of Sound ”
Sounds -

* A sensation or a feeling that we

hear is a sound.

* Sound originates when a

material or object vibrates.
These vibrations propagate in
solid, liquid or gas medium in a
wave form from the emitter
to the receiver.
* Thus, a sound wave is
the transfer of energy
emitted by a source
material or object into
the medium as it travels.

* A sound wave is
characterized by its
frequency,
wavelength and
amplitude..
* Architectural acoustics can
considerably improve the quality of
life at work, during leisure time and
in the home.

* Some sounds are desirable

and need to be enhanced or
emphasized (e.g. music in a
concert hall; the speakers
voice in a debating
chamber etc)
* Other sounds are highly
undesirable (known as noise) and
need to be reduced or prevented (e.g.
noise in a factory workshop etc).

* In many countries
minimum limits have
been set for the permitted
noise levels in a particular
environment (e.g. in the
home, at the place of
work).
* Regulations have also
been drawn up defining the
minimum acceptable

Materials
Echo Eliminator -

* The Most Cost Effective

Acoustical Absorbing
Material On The Market.

*Echo Eliminator is a high-

performance acoustical
material made from
recycled cotton.
* Echo Eliminator can be used
as an acoustic wall panel or
hanging baffle.

*Common applications of
these cotton fabric panels are
school gyms, classrooms,
lunch rooms and any
application where a high-
performance noise control
product is needed.
* It is made up of
Bonded Acoustical
Cotton (B.A.C.)

Sound Silencer -

* Sound Silencer acoustical

sound panels are unique –
made from Rigid Porous
ARPRO Acoustical
(P.E.P.P.)

* Planks, these panels are

Class A fire rated with STC and
NRC values.
* Sound Silencer panels are great for
gymnasiums, ice rinks, swimming
pools, clean rooms, laboratories,
food prep areas, firing ranges
and anywhere else where noise
control is important.

* The acoustical sound

panels can be applied
directly on wall and ceiling
surfaces for attractive and
effective sound control.

Sound barrier -
* Sound, like water, has a
way of seeping through any
available crack, gap, or
fissure.

* The only way to stop sound

from moving from one
space to another it to
prevent the sound from
finding a way through by using
some type of barrier.
* An acoustical sound barrier comes in
many forms and understanding sound is the
first step in accurate and effective noise
control.

- Sound Barrier -
Note - Barrier ceiling
tiles and resilient sound
isolation clips are
unique products that
prevent sound from
transmitting through
walls or floor and ceiling
assemblies.
Soundproofing Ceiling
Tiles -

* Ceiling Tiles have a long history

in improving and aiding room
acoustics.

* When attached directly to a

ceiling or when used as a drop
ceiling, acoustic ceiling
panels and sound absorbing
drop ceiling tiles provide effective
noise control.
* Offered in a wide variety of
materials, sizes, and designs,
acoustic ceiling tiles are an easy
solution for improving the
acoustical qualities of any space.

* These soundproofing tiles

manage noise control in large
or small areas to keep
acoustics in balance for occupant
comfort.
* Acoustical tiles reduce airborne noise and
improve the sound quality within a room by
absorbing sound waves and eliminating
echoes.

- Ceiling Tiles -
Note - If you need high
performance acoustic
ceiling panels that
provide blocking,
absorption, and
diffusion of sound, then
dBA Panels are a perfect
option, bringing all
these qualities together
in one unit.
