Main Idea 2: Climate Change and Natural Disaster
 The changes in weather patterns, sea level rise, drought all

affects the food production. This also has a reverse as

decrease in food production affects people in earning less
income which hinders them to buy safe, sufficient and
nutritious food
 Natural disasters has an impact on market access, food

supply as there is less produced available in the market and

affect the overall food prices. It also affects the farmers as
the farms get destroyed by these natural disasters and incur
losses for them.

Main Idea 3: Population Growth
 Increase in population increases the demand for food
and some small pacific island countries cannot cater
for large population. There is pressure on limited
resources and results in overexploiting the land and
destruction of forests.
 Since there is increase in population growth, many

people are unemployed and cannot provide the basic

food needs of their individual families.

Main Idea 2: Decrease in development and
Economic growth
 Food insecurity limits the economic activity in the
economy, thus the government earn less revenue and
there is decrease in government expenditure. As a
result, there is less development and decrease in
economic growth.
 When there is food insecurity it reduces the ability of a

person to buy food thus it reduces their access to health

care services, sanitation and education.

Main Idea 3: Food insecurity and instability
will increase stress and anxiety
 Lack of food security will increase stress amongst
individuals as people always have that uncertainty that
they will be able to feed their family nutritious food
with the income that they have.
 People in societies have to face the guilt that they

could not provide their family with the best. Because

of this, the person may face shame, powerlessness and
depression.
