Artificial Intelligence

 Artificial intelligence (AI) is an area of computer science that

emphasizes the creation of intelligent machines that work and
react like humans.

 Some of the activities computers with artificial intelligence are

designed for include: Speech recognition. Learning. Planning.
 AI relies on essential skills like machine learning, Big Data processing,
analysis, etc. to make sense of incoming information and create
specified outcomes.

 During every digital transaction, the software “learns” to become

better.

 AI is transforming a variety of industries with its ability to perform

routine tasks and leave the workforce to perform more challenging
tasks like strategizing.

 This helps leverage the potential of the workforce without burdening

them with mundane, time-consuming tasks.
Project Management AI

 Project management AI can be defined as an AI-enabled system

that can be used to perform day-to-day management without any
need for input from a human.

 It will automate the simple tasks and develop an understanding of

the project performance to find insights and take decisions.

 Eventually, an AI system will improve the outcomes of your

projects, making work more effective.
PMI’s Talent Triangle

 Technical Project Management, Business and

strategic management skills and leadership
are three sides of talent triangle.

 Artificial intelligent Support and enable the

Project Manager to perform their role in each
of these buckets ,Some areas larger than
others
 Technical Project Management
 Technical project management is the application of the knowledge domains
defined in different phases of the project.
 Artificial intelligent with Project management assistants, bots and machine
learning can play role in providing data driven insights and recommendation to
manage the activities.

 Strategic& Business Management

 Expertise and knowledge of Project Manager in the domain in which project is
executed contributes significantly to Project Manager’s success.
 Project manager need to align with what are key value levers and how the
project will help the organization for a successful business outcome.
 AI based system will help project manager to model the dependent parameters
and predict outcomes of the project.
 Leadership

 These are Skills and behaviors related to leadership which enable the Project manager
to manage the stakeholders and take them through the project journey.

 It is ability to achieve goals, Keep the project team motivated, stakeholder

management and make right decisions.

 This is the area which Project manager can focus while some of the effort of project
manager in other areas can be supplemented by AI.

 Most often this is the area which gets backseat during a project and contribute to
project failure. Aligning all stakeholders to a shared goal is the key to Project success.
Benefits of AI that will transform project
management
 Risk predictions
 An AI system can alert the project manager to potential risks and opportunities by using
real-time project data analysis.
 For example, watching the time spent on a certain task can help you predict whether it
will meet the deadline.
 Many industries like credit scoring, counter-terrorism, banking, and finance are already
using AI to predict events before they happen.
 AI is great in doing the repetitive task as compared to a human being which increases the
visibility in projects.
 It’s all about collecting the right pieces of data to predict the possible outcomes
 Eliminate repetitive tasks

 The research revealed that executive-level and the middle-level use up 54% of
their time doing administrative activities, but when there will be AI, it will take
only 25% of their time.

 When AI will do most of the repetitive work, project managers will have enough
time to do their real work. And removing repetitive tasks can make time to
undertake some other tasks and boost productivity.
 Improve productivity & efficiency

 AI can predict errors in projects and find the number of defects at any
stage to measure the project quality.

 You can automate simple tasks. Including sending emails, notifications,

cost, and more to save time and think about improvements you can make
to the project.

 Forexample, AI can observe the progress of the actual project. And also
compare it to the project’s planned schedule. And then recommend how to
bring the project back on track
 Better project analysis

 One of the most prominent features of AI in project management is

project analysis which is another big challenge in project
management.

 Through the use of artificial intelligence and other aspects of machine

learning, we can determine the completion rate of projects and predict
the likelihood of delivering products on time.
 Using AI in project management combines information of past projects
to see what will work and what will not.

 Harmon.ie is another AI-driven solution to sort communication across

various channels.

 If the project is going wrong in terms of time or budget, AI can provide

help on budgeting, scheduling, and other risks.
