 To give an understanding of theoretical, methodological and


practical issues related to the economic evaluation of health
care programmes
 How economic evaluation can be applied to the health care
sector to inform decisions.

 to describe the theory, principles and methods of economic
evaluation
 to describe and compare basic cost concepts and methods for
analysing uncertainty
 to describe collection of data for economic evaluations and an
introduction to modelling in economic evaluations

health improvements

 to perform a basic economic evaluation
 to select medical interventions according to the decision
rules of cost-effectiveness analysis
