According to officials, the fire accident took place at Auctus Pharma Limited (APL) at

midnight. It is believed that the fire was sparked by a short-circuit in the electrical panel

of the production block-II at the plant and soon it spread to the generator room where

drums containing diesel caught fire and triggered a mild blast

According to sources, the accident took place in Block-II of the Vegesna Labs plant
when supervisor K Srinivas and his team were in the process of removing toulene
solvent from the reactor after the chemical process was complete. On hearing some
sounds emanating from the reactor, Srinivas alerted Block-II in-charge A Dhanraj, who
rushed to the and started examining it.

It was when they were examining the reactor that its safety valve burst open due to
high pressure and smoke start emanating from the reactor. They alerted all the staffers
in the block, who rushed to safety.

However, this was soon followed by a chemical surge that blew open the cover of the
reactor. Due to its impact, glass doors s and window panes shattered and the flying
shards hit those who were trying to run away from the accident scene.
