Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
•listen and analyze the given story;
•determine the meaning of verbs and regular past tense of
verbs;
•identify the regular verbs from the story;
•write a three paragraph narrative essay about their
experience of being honest;
•realize the theme of the text ‘Gold Coins and a Selfish
Man; and
•appreciate the value of honesty as presented in the story.

 Verb
Expresses an action whether it be physical
or mental.

It explains what the subject of the sentence

is doing or has done.
 Past Tense Verbs
Refers to actions or events in the past.

They are simply added with a d or ed

They can be in regular or irregular form.

 Regular Verbs
• Regular verbs in English create the past
simple and past participle by adding –ed to
the base form.
Regular verbs in English create the past simple and
past participle by:

•adding -ed to the base form.

For example: watch- watched

• accept – accepted
call – called
wait- waited
• If the verb ends in a consonant and -y, we
change the -y to -i and added -ed.

• For example:

• Study – Studied
• Marry - married
• If a verb ends in -e we simply add –d.

• For example:

• like – liked
• Hate - hated
