Gastronomy of Mexico

• MEXICO
Is a country located in the southern part of North
America and is made up of thirty States. Among
the rich varieties of the country, Mexican
gastronomy is an important point that cannot be
left aside.
Mexico boasts one of the best and richest
gastronomies in America. It is in fact one of the
most international cuisines in the world, at the
level of Italian, Chinese or Japanese.
Some of its typical dishes are:
This dish consists of soft corn tortillas
stuffed with beef, chicken, turkey or pork,
and cheese. On top are complemented
with some sauce, which can be beans,
chilies, more cheese, cream or some type
of mole, and are accompanied with some
fresh vegetables such as tomatoes, lettuce
in thin strips, chopped onion or
guacamole.

ENCHILADAS
The pozole consists of cooking the
cacahuacintle, a type of large-grain corn that
for this dish must be cooked in two different
phases for several hours. Once this process is
ready (when the grains explode like a
flower), the meat is added and, according to
taste, other seasonings to give it flavor and
color.

POZOLE
The popular corn tortilla admits the filling
that is, from any type of meat or fish, to all
kinds of cheeses and grains and a few
varieties of vegetables, being chili
everywhere and the first businesses that
were installed in the cities and towns of
North America with a minimal Mexican
presence were the taquerías.

TACOS
You don't have to go to distant countries, such as Vietnam or China, to try
strange delicacies. Mexico has a rich and varied gastronomy, and some of its
dishes come out of the conventional by the use of insects as ingredients.
Are prepared in many different ways, for
example, in mole, with egg, in mixiote,
with garlic mojo or with butter. Can find
exotic dishes made with these larves in
Hidalgo, Puebla, Tlaxcala, Guanajuato and
in fine dining Mexican restaurants in other
states.

These insects are very rich in good
quality protein. After cleaning them, the
grasshoppers are roasted on a griddle
with garlic, lemon and salt. Sometimes
they also add chili. Can eat them as an
exotic snack or as a taco filling.

GRASSHOPPERS WITH LEMON


The worms found in the maguey plant
have been consumed in central Mexico
since pre-Hispanic times. Are rich in
protein and considered a delicious. Can
try them in tacos, whether they are live,
roasted or fried.

It is really impressive how we find in the different countries a great gastronomic variety including
insects. These dishes are not very famous today, and it is thought that they are only common in the
Asian continent. The most curious thing is that these dishes are rich in protein and some vitamins.
