The following are the steps in replenishing bathroom amenities:
Replenish the bath amenities. The amount of amenities for each
type of room varies so make sure that you place only the correct amount. Bathroom amenities include: Shampoo and conditioner Shower cap Soap Toilet tissue Facial tissue Morning kit Shaving kit Sanitary bag among others Check the overall condition and cleanliness of the bathroom. Close the lights and leave. Moving out the equipment Moving out the supplies The vacuum equipment should be properly placed back to its shelf in the cart. Get the cleaning materials caddy and place them below the trash bag. Checking the furniture and fixtures Checking the overall condition Get the lost and found items and Room Assignment Sheet from the vanity table drawer and transfer it to the housekeeping cart. Keep the lost and found items hidden if there is no lock box on the cart. Check the working conditions of knobs (sink and tub) and electronic gadgets (tv, lamps, telephone) Check the condition of the whole room. Keep in mind that the room should look presentable again. Check the door knob for fingerprints, both from inside and outside. Finally, exit the room. Public areas consist of a property’s entrances, lobbies, corridors, elevators, restrooms and health facilities. Other areas which the guest sees include dining areas, banquet and meeting rooms, and sometimes, administrations and sales offices. The condition of public- or front-of-the-house- areas makes a strong statement for the rest of the property. Among the typical front-of-the house areas that need daily – if not hourly- housekeeping attention are: • Entrances • Lobbies (including the front desk) • Corridors • Elevators • Public restrooms • Swimming pools • Exercise rooms Cleaning activities on an hourly or daily basis include: Emptying and cleaning astrays Emptying and wiping down wastebaskets Cleaning glass and window areas Wiping and dusting lobby telephones Polishing drinking fountains Polishing railings Removing fingerprints or spots from wall Polishing doorknobs and wiping surrounding areas Dusting and cleaning doorjambs and track Vacuuming carpet Sweeping tile or hardwood floor areas Straightening furniture Cleaning task on a weekly basis are: • Polishing wooden furniture • Vacuuming upholstered furniture • Vacuuming or cleaning drapes or window coverings • Cleaning window sills • Dusting ceiling vents • Dusting in high or hard-to-reach areas • Cleaning carpet edges and baseboards
