What is Google Meet?

Google Meet is a video communication service you can use to virtually


host meetings or virtual classes with others online.

Google Meet offers many features to make online distant learning and
video conferencing as versatile and effective as possible.

Needs a Gmail Account to start a meeting without downloading any application, however you can join a
meeting without a Gmail account.

In Joining a Meeting, you will need to enter meeting code when someone sends
you an invitation

Get the code from the invitation. It is a complex code of security id so that it will prevent different
issues. You don’t have to include the dash.

Click the join button to start a service but won’t still start a meeting yet

Click the Join Now when you are ready to join the meeting
Start presenting by clicking Present.

Presenting is actually the same as sharing screen.

It is good to know the properties of video and audio

Click the multiple dot or more options icon. Select settings to see the audio, video and general
settings.

On Audio settings, you can select options of microphone and speakers you want to use.

Similarly, on Video Settings, you can choose


different camera.

You can also change resolution but I will recommend


you to choose the standard definition if your
internet is not great.

Send resolution is the resolution send but still, the


receiving person has the option to choose what
resolution it will get vice versa to receive resolution
option.

Click Done when you are finished.

There will be a joining info screen.

Click the copy joining info to copy info into the clipboard where you can paste it to send it to other
possible participants.

You will have also the option to add


people. You can type their (any) email
address on the enter name or email
field, it can be Yahoo mail or Hotmail.

If you want a whiteboard type feature, go to canvas.apps.chrome and share this screen on your
meeting.

This will show the meeting info that can be copied and send it to other joining participants. As an
organizer, you can approve or decline participants so there’s no danger of intruders.

Here, you add people to invite into the meeting using their email address.

Type message in the field and click cannot send or receive file or
enter to send a message to everyone documents

This will display your thumbnail icon.


When you click the mute your mic icon, it
will display the mic is muted also here.

2 options to schedule a meeting

1. Directly from the meet.google.com website

Click the + icon to schedule a video meeting.

2. From your google account

Click the google apps icon and select the calendar.

You can set it to a month view.

Click the date and a meeting setup details will display.


There, you can name the meeting, setup the time,
invite guests, etc.

Click the Add Google Meet video conferencing. If you


want to join early in the meeting, click the join google
meet.
