The Structure of the organisation: Walt
Disney Company
•The structure of the Walt Disney company as an
organisation is a sort of hierarchical and multidivisional
structure as the company has one CEO who overseas the
whole operation and underneath him is the other
divisions of the Walt Disney company, the main ones
being the Attractions, Studio and consumer products
section.

•A Hierarchal structure is an organizational structure


where every division and section within the organization
except for one, are subordinate to a single other entity.

The structure of the organisation: A24


•The structure of A24 as an organisation is a non-hierarchical  structure
as the structure of the company is more grounded. As said by the
company member Zoe Beyer who runs the social media accounts for
A24 “That’s only funny,” Beyer once observed, “because you’re not
quite sure who’s saying it. It could be the CEO or an intern.” This is a
representation of the non-hierarchical structure of the company as it
shows a less rank based and more equal playing field.

•A Non-hierarchal structure is an organizational structure where the CEO


divides the members of the company into teams based on the needs of
task at hand. By eliminating layers of managers, the process of decision
making is sped up and therefore administrative costs become lower.
A private or public company: Walt Disney
Company
•The Walt Disney Company is a public company. This simply means
that The Walt Disney Company  is a company whose ownership is
organized via shares of stock which are intended to be freely traded on
a stock exchange or in over-the-counter markets or more simply put
they are a company whose shares are traded freely on a stock
exchange.
A private or public company: A24
•A24 is a private company. What this means is that A24 is owned either
by non-governmental organizations or by a relatively small number of
shareholders or company members which do not offer or trade their
company stock (shares) to the general public on the stock market
exchanges, but rather the company's stock is offered, owned and traded
or exchanged privately or over-the-counter. In more simple terms this
means that they are a company whose shares may not be offered to the
public for sale and which operates under legal requirements less strict
than those for a public company.
Are they part of a larger conglomerate: Walt
Disney Company
•The Walt Disney Company is part of a conglomerate. This is because the
company other than owning various film production companies (Walt
Disney Studios, Marvel Entertainment, Lucas Film, Pixar, 20 th Century
Fox, etc) they also own various theme parks, shops, and television stations
such as ABC, ESPN amongst others and also have some hand in
companies such as GoPro and Buena Vista Productions.
Are they part of a larger conglomerate: A24

•A24 is not part of a conglomerate as the solely focus on


film distribution and television production. This means
they can not be a conglomerate because they are not a
multi divisional company, this means that they do not
have many sub divisions and branch out into owning
different companies.
What media products to they make: Walt
Disney Company
•The Walt Disney Company specialize in making the media
products films, television programs and games. The film
production companies they own other than Walt Disney studios
are , Marvel Entertainment, Lucas Film, Pixar and 20th Century
Fox amongst other studios. The Television broadcasting
companies they own include ABC, A & E, National Geographic
and ESPN amongst others. Disney Interactive Studios is the
part of the company that specializes in making games.
What media products to they make: A24

•The media products that are primarily produced by A24 are


television programs and they also distribute films. The films that
they have distributed include titles such as Uncut gems, the
Light house, The Farewell, Mid 90’s and Moonlight amongst
other films. Television programs that the company have
produced include Ramy, Euphoria, The Confession Tapes and
John Mulaney & the Sack Lunch Bunch amongst other
programs.
What is their profitability (Sales): Walt
Disney Company
•Disney gains part of its revenue through commercial advertisement
across all of their broadcasting networks, along with the their theme
parks. Disney has made US $13.611 billion from their 6 domestic
parks annually. As for the film side of the company 80% of the box
office hits from 2019 were films that were produced by Disney and
6 Disney films in 2019 passed $1 billion at the box office.
What is their profitability (Sales): A24
•A24’s profitability is mainly through the box office results of the films they
distribute and weather these films break even or not and this basically
means weather or not the film makes back its budget plus more so that the
studio makes some type of profit.
Who are their competitors?: Walt Disney
Company
•Although Disney has acquired a number of companies that were
their former competitors such as Marvel, Lucasfilm and 20th
century fox they still do have a number of competitors. Disney still
has a number of competitors across its various markets, with
Viacom, Time Warner, Sony, CBS and Comcast being its main
competitors.
Who are their competitors?: A24
•Some of A24’s competitors include Neon which is a distributor who
have distributed films such as colossal, I 'Tonya and Apollo 11 and
another distributor that is a competitor is Blumhouse productions, who
have produced Halloween (2018), the Insidious franchise, Split and Get
out amongst other things.
Where do they get their revenue from: Walt
Disney Company
•Disney gains Revenue from the many divisions within the
organizations structure. For example revenue for the Walt Disney
company is earned from the Attractions division (theme parks), the
Store’s and Euro Disney division and lastly the Disney studios
division.
Where do they get their revenue from: A24
•A24 mainly get their revenue from their distributed films and produced television programs. The
distributed films give them a rate from the box office and the television programs give them a rate
from the ratings that are pulled in.
Are they horizontally or vertically
integrated?: Walt Disney Company
•Vertical integration is when Disney has to produce, market, distribute, and
create merchandise for their product, a product that Disney produced in
their studios, marketed on their Channels and press junkets by them and in
this sense Disney could be viewed as a vertically integrated company.
•But some of Disney’s more recent acquisition seem to mirror a more
horizontally integrated model.
•A vertical integration is the combination in one firm of two or more stages
of production normally operated by separate firms.
Are they horizontally or vertically integrated: A24

•The company A24 has a more horizontally integrated business


model as when it comes to films they need help with the
production and when it comes to television programs they need
assistance with the distribution of the product and as they need
to associate with other companies they are horizontality
integrated.
