CONTROLLING USING
IOT
INTRODUCTION
 The availability of fast processing stable and sensitive products
provided particular benefits in industrial automation . As a result of
the developments in communication technologies ,systems are no
longer monitored and controlled by personnel using classical
method ,but automatically by computer –controlled or remote
controlled devices.
 This brings new terminology internet of things has attracted a lot of
attention and is expected to bring benefits to numerous applications
and is providing a helping hand to achieve the industrial automation
through remote access.
 Hence this leads to exchange of relevant data ,statistics ,logs and
various other parameters information among various devices to
improve their performance, which will help industries to have better
productivity and increased output.
OBJECTIVE

REGULATED POWER SUPPLY
The major blocks of power supply are given below
 Transformer
 Rectifier
 Filter
 7805 voltage regulator
TRANSFORMER
 Transformer is a static device.
 Transformer is a electromagnetic device which
induces the voltage due to magnetic field present between
primary and secondary windings.
 It has two windings called as primary winding and secondary
winding. We are giving input 230v input voltage at primary side.
The output of transformer is 12v(ac only).
 In this project we are using 12v step down transformer.
Specifications:voltage:230volts;KVA:3KVA;Full Load
current:13Amps
RECTIFIER
 Rectifier is circuit which converts the ac in to dc. We
have two types of rectifier.
• Full wave rectifier
• Half wave rectifier
 Full wave rectifier again classified as follows
• Bridge rectifier
• Center tapped full wave rectifier
 In this project we are using bridge rectifier because
the efficiency of the bridge rectifier is high
compare to all rectifiers.
FILTER
 The output of rectifier is not pure DC. It
may contain some ripple components that is
pulsating DC. To eliminate this ripple
components which are present in output we are
using filter.
 Most of the power supplies are using capacitor
filter to filter out the ripples present in output.

 The output of filter is not constant output voltage it

will varies according to changes in input but we
want constant output voltage. For this purpose we
are using voltage regulator.
 We are using 7805 voltage regulator to maintain
constant 5v output voltage irrespective of changes
in input voltage.
ARDUINO NANO
 The Nano is inbuilt with the ATmega328P microcontroller,
same as the Arduino UNO.
 The main difference between them is that the UNO board is
presented in PDIP (Plastic Dual-In-line Package) form with
30 pins and Nano is available in TQFP (plastic quad flat
pack) with 32 pins.
 The extra 2 pins of Arduino Nano serve for the ADC
functionalities, while UNO has 6 ADC ports but Nano has 8
ADC ports. The Nano board doesn’t have a DC power jack
as other Arduino boards, but instead has a mini-USB port.
 This port is used for both programming and serial
monitoring. The fascinating feature in Nano is that it will
choose the strongest power source with its potential
difference, and the power source selecting jumper is invalid.
DHT11 SENSOR
 The following timing diagrams describe the data
transfer protocol between a MCU and the DHT11
sensor .the MCU initiates data transmission by
issuing a “start” signal.
 The MCU first pulls the data line low for at least
18MS and then pulls it high it high for next 20-40us
before it release It . next the sensor responds to the
MCU “start signal by pulling the line low for 80us
followed by a logic high signal that also lasts for
80us
 Once detecting the response signal from the sensor ,
the MCU should be ready to receive data from the
sensor.
COMMUCIATION PROCESS
VIBRATION SENSOR(MEMS)

 The vibration sensor is also called a

piezoelectric sensor. These sensors are
flexible devices which are used for
measuring various processes.
This sensor uses the piezoelectric
effects while measuring the changes
within acceleration, pressure,
temperature, force otherwise strain by
changing to an electrical charge.
ELECTROMAGNETIC RELAY

 Relay is an electromagnetic switch.

It consists of a coil of wire
surrounding a soft iron core, an iron
yoke,which provides a low
reluctance path for magnetic flux, a
movable inked to a moving contact
or contacts.
 When an electric current is passed
through the coil, the resulting
magnetic field attracts the armature
and the consequent movement of
the movable contact or contacts
either makes or breaks a connection
with a fixed contact.
Specifications:SRD-5VDC-10A
INDUCTION MOTOR
 The standard definition for an AC motor is an electric motor that is driven
by alternating current.and convert electrical energy into mechanical energy.
 The mechanical energy is made for utilizing the force that is exerted by the
rotating magnetic fields produced by the alternating current that flows
through the coils.
 The AC motor is made up of two major components the stationary stator
that is on outside and has coils supplied with AC current, and inside rotor
that is attached by the output shaft.
The basic reason for using single phase over three phase is
 Simple in construction, reliable, easy to repair, comparatively cheaper in cost
and find in various uses like fans, vaccum cleaners, refrigerators.
Specifications:
H.P.:0.25;AMP:2;RPM:1500;Rating:continuous;
LCD DISPLAY
 A liquid crystal display (LCD) is a thin, flat electronic visual
display that uses the light modulating properties of liquid
crystals.

 Liquid crystal display is very important device in embedded

system. It offers high flexibility to user as he can display the
required data on it.

 These are used in a wide range of applications, including

computer monitors, television, instrument panels, aircraft,
cockpit displays, signage, etc.

BUZZER

 A buzzer or beeper is an audio signaling device, which

may be mechanical, electromechanical, or electronic.

 A buzzer can be operated on two principles.

1. piezo electric buzzer, it generates sound because of the
piezoelectric effect.
2. magnetic buzzer is based on the electromagnetic principle. In
this project we are going to use magnetic buzzer.

characteristics of buzzer circuit :

1. sound level -------------------70-95 dB
2. current consumption---------35-60 ma
3. resonant frequency---------- 1-3 khz
WIFI MODULE
 Wireless Technology is an alternative to Wired
Technology, which is commonly used, for
connecting devices in wireless mode.
 Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) is a generic term that refers
to the IEEE 802.11 communications standard for
Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs).
 Wi-Fi Network connect computers to each other, to
the internet and to the wired network.
HOW A WI-FI NETWORK WORKS

 Basic concept is same as Walkie talkies.

 A Wi-Fi hotspot is created by installing an access point to an
internet connection.
 An access point acts as a base station.
 When Wi-Fi enabled device encounters a hotspot the device
can then connect to that network wirelessly.
 A single access point can support up to 30 users and can
function within a range of 100 – 150 feet indoors and up to 300
feet outdoors.
 Many access points can be connected to each other via
Ethernet cables to create a single large network.

CONCLUSION

Induction motor is the workhouse of industries. The proper

and advance health prediction of induction motor is crucial
to avoid unexcepted shutdowns and resulting financial
losses. The health of motors can be non-invasively
diagnosed by acquiring the different parameters like
temperature, vibration, humidity etc., We conclude that the
best performance from among the various discussed
approaches is achieved using IOT approach, where in results
with very high accuracies can be achieved with minimum
number of data required for training.
FUTURE SCOPE
 The proposed approach has been verified only with the
single motor set. The approach may be applied to motors of
other design parameters and the results can be analysed.
 The various accuracies presented in this thesis are subject to
the number and type of input parameters selected. The
presented results can be further verified by taking different
set of parameters of motor.
 A real-time system can be developed based on this study
wherein the motor data can be acquired and fed into
intelligent system simultaneously. The intelligent system
would evaluate the condition of the motor and issue
appropriate command accordingly.
