College life is said to be the most challenging and exciting phase of
your life. It is an entirely new adventure that everyone looks forward to.
It is a world different from your primary as well as junior and senior high
schools. Since you are in your freshman year, everything – including this
subject – is new to you. Answer these questions in your own words;

Activity 1:
What is Understanding The Self all about?

Why am I here in this subject?


Is it important in the curriculum? Yes or No? Why?

How will it help you as a student and as a person?

You belong to this university/college so it is important to know and


learn first: the Vision, Mission, and Objectives of the university and the
college, and the learning objectives of this Course from the Syllabus;

Activity 2:
In your own words, sum up and write below the Vision, Mission, and
Objectives of Romblon State University and the College of Business and
Accountancy. Declare how you can help achieve these.
How you interact with your teachers and fellow students in your chosen
module is, likewise, so important.

Activity 3: Sharing Oneself


Share yourself with others by providing the following information:

• Your Name
• Your positive attribute or characteristic that begins with
the first letter of your First Name (e.g. Mary Ann, “Motivated”

• The school where you came from

• Your reason for studying in this institution

• Your feeling and expectation being in this class

How to live together in peace and harmony with


yourself and the whole community is, likewise, so important.

Activity 4: Your Role in the Community


In college, each of you is expected to do something for the whole
community. You are now freshman student. Can you identify or list down
the things that you can do for the community?

It may be good to start to sing your alma mater song. Then, you can
add more things in the list you have made.
Activity 5: Self-identification
A. Following are statement about “pictures” of oneself. Determine if the
statement reflects a real self or an ideal self. Write your answer on the
blank.

Instruction: Read and comprehend the article on previous page.

 Make observation of your daily activities for a week, from


the time you wake up in the morning and go to sleep at night.
 Analyze your situation and assess critically and reflect if
you, too, and your life is on auto-pilot.
 How does it make you feel?
 Write down what you observed as your usual activities
which you do on autopilot.
 Be ready to share your reflection with everyone during the
scheduled interaction.

Again, autopilot is when you do things without conscious thinking.
