On June 10, 1896 Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo issued decree appointing his general
of War Ambrosio Rianzales Bautista to write the Act of Declaration of the
Independence.
Its commenced with the condition of the country during Spanish colonial
period.
The document mentioned abuse, inequalities, connivance of civil guard,
selfish and avaricious, execrable work of friar and Spanish leaders.
Sixteen (16) pages document that contained the aspiration of freedom, the
sacrifices made, and the revolution that resulted from it .
The text of this declaration that was read on June 12, 1898, in Kawit Cavite
in the afternoon declaration of independence. The document is short 2,000

From the proclamation proceeded with brief historical overview of the
Spanish occupation since Magellan’s arrival until the Philippine revolution.
The document narrates the spread of the movement like an electric spark
through different towns and provinces like Bataan, Pampanga, Batangas,
Bulacan, Laguna and Morong
The document also narrates the Cavite Mutiny, the Martyred of native priest
Jose Burgos, Mariano Gomez and Jacinto Zamora
The proclamation also invokes the established republic would be led under
Emilio Aguinaldo
Another details in the proclamation is the explanation of the Philippine flag
The white triangle – Katipunan society, 3 stars- Luzon, Panay and Mindanao,
the 8 rays of the sun- manila, Cavite, Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Bataan,
Laguna and Batangas

About the Author of the Proclamation
Emilio Aguinaldo- born on March 22, 1869 in Kawit Cavite
Parent- Carlos Aguinaldo (father) Trinidad Famy (mother) 2nd to the youngest
children
The Aguinaldos were wealthy and influecial family
His father served gobernadorcillo for several term
After death of his father, Emilio assisted his mother in the family business
Followed in his Father’s footstep he was chosen Capitan Municipal of Kawit in
1894
Joined in the Katipunan choosing the name Magdalo
When revolution began, problem arise because faction (Magdiwang &
Magdalo)
Election for a Pamahalaang Panghihimagsik Aguinaldo elected as president on
March 22, 1897.
Aguinaldo and his officers went unto exile in Hong Kong in December 1897.
Spanish – American War eventually changed Philippine history, after America
won the battle.
Aguinaldo returned to the Philippine and announced the resumption of the
revolution.
Filipino realized that America were become new colonizers
After the Spanish defeat in 1898, the US began to send fresh troops to the
Philippines
Aguinaldo convened a congress in Malolos,Bulacan in which the delegation
wrote and established Republic of the Philippines in January 1899
Aguinaldo die at the age of 94, on feb.6, 1964
