COURSE OVERVIEW

A course that seeks to guide students of Malayan Colleges Laguna (MCL) in

understanding concepts of leadership and volunteerism. The course also aims to
enhance the leadership capacity and the passion for volunteerism of the students. It
would also highlight practical opportunities for students to develop leadership and
volunteerism which they could apply to the various career paths that they will be
pursuing after college. Particular emphasis will be given to the value of a service-
oriented mindset; empathy; communication; problem solving and adaptability;
collaboration/teamwork; creativity; self-assertion and not aggression.
COURSE OUTCOMES
A student completing this course should at the minimum be able to:
1. Explain the various concepts and principles of leadership and volunteerism;
2. Analyze one’s potential in terms of the basic principles of leadership and
volunteerism including its nature and behavioral styles;
3. Develop leadership and volunteerism principles that will be of value in everyday
life;
4. Relate experiences in leadership and volunteerism to one’s career path and plans
for the future.

COURSE REQUIREMENT
The term will be fully online and will utilize Blackboard™, web conferencing tools, and other online facilities to
enhance the ability of the student to cope with remote learning.
The student will be given either a Passed (P) or Failed (F) mark at the end of the course based on the
completeness of the following requirements:

1. Learning Tasks (Group Discussions, Assignments, Worksheets, Online Activities)

2. Course Synthesis Final Project
• Personal Goal Worksheet
• Course Synthesis Final Output

Note: The student is required to obtain at least a Letter Grade of B in the Learning Tasks and Course Synthesis
