Political Speech

Савкин Даниил, ПОНЕМ 192

Key points:
• 1) A speaker’s goal (s/he wants to
clarify a question or attack his/her
opponent)
• 2) Personal pronouns using
• 3) Approach ( if a speaker heavily
relies on facts and figures or uses
a grand style, for example)
• 4) Being with the “people” ( a
speaker actively uses jokes, the
way s/he talks with the media,
openly talks about his/her
personal experience, etc.)
It is very important to
clearly understand what you
are going to say
• “America is far less safe and the world is far
less stable than when Obama made the decision
to put Hillary Clinton in charge of America's
foreign policy. I am certain it is a decision he
truly regrets.”
•  “Nobody knows the system better than me,
which is why I alone can fix it.”
• Donald Trump

• “That is the only way we can turn our

progressive platform into real change for
America. We wrote it together – now let's go out
and make it happen together.
• Americans don't say: “I alone can fix it.” We
say: “We'll fix it together.”

Hillary Clinton
• “ They voted to shape a brighter future
for our country. They voted to leave the
European Union and embrace the world.
And they did so with their eyes open:
accepting that the road ahead will be
uncertain at times, but believing that it
leads towards a brighter future for their
children - and their grandchildren too.”
• “All of us in Europe face the challenge of
cross-border crime, a deadly terrorist
threat, and the dangers presented by
hostile states. All of us share interests and
values in common, values we want to see
projected around the world.”
