IV.3 Plot Plan

Plot Plan (General and Unit)

The plot plan is source for equipment location coordinates

and its orientation relative to the plant north direction.
IV. Main Pipiing Equipment/ Eng.Documentation
IV.3 Plot Plan

Plot Plan (General and Units)

 Plot Plan will be developed parallel to the site plan but

slightly lagging to the site Plan.

 Dependent upon plant size and complexity, multiple (Unit)

plot plans may exist.

 For off-shore projects each single deck shall be considered

as a separate area with its own unit (Deck) plot plan.
IV. Main Pipiing Equipment/ Eng.Documentation
IV.3 Plot Plan

Site Plan

 Site plans have no match lines, but shall be drawn on grid

lines showing either global coordinates or local ones
relative to predefined (by the client) datum point.
IV. Main Pipiing Equipment/ Eng.Documentation
IV.3 Plot Plan

Site Plan

 All plant features/boundaries and equipment shall be

positively positioned within the property using
North/South and East/West coordinates.

Dimensional locations are not acceptable.

Basic Format

Plot Plan Drawings shall be drawn on "E" size sheets 

. (864mmX 1120mm) for On-shore projects

 While for Offshore projects drawings shall be drawn on

“D” size sheets (864mmX 560mm) .
IV. Main Pipiing Equipment/ Eng.Documentation
IV.3 Plot Plan

Basic Format

Drawings are normally produced with the sheet 

horizontal, but where a requirement for a vertical
drawing exists; it is ensured that the sheet is aligned
with the title block in the lower right hand corner of the
.border
IV. Main Pipiing Equipment/ Eng.Documentation
IV.3 Plot Plan

Title Block

Full title block details shall be filled prior to starting the 

drawing. In particular, the title, drawing number and scale
.shall be indicated
IV. Main Pipiing Equipment/ Eng.Documentation
IV.3 Plot Plan

Title Block

For general plot plan (in case of multi-units plants), a three-line 

title is standard:

General plot plan

PLANT NAME
PROJECT TITLE
GENERAL PLOT PLAN
IV. Main Pipiing Equipment/ Eng.Documentation
IV.3 Plot Plan

For Onshore, a four-line title is standard:

PLANT NAME
PROJECT TITLE
UNIT NAME
UNIT PLOT PLAN
See Sample of Title Block

IV. Main Pipiing Equipment/ Eng.Documentation
IV.3 Plot Plan

For Offshore plot plans, a four-line title is standard:

PLATFORM NAME
PROJECT TITLE
--- DECK AT EL. -------
DECK PLOT PLAN
See Sample of Title Block

SCALE

General Plot Plans (for huge and complex plants) are drawn 
to a larger scale than Site Plans, being representative of
smaller plant area, in some minor cases both site plan and
.general plot plan may have the same scale

IV. Main Pipiing Equipment/ Eng.Documentation
IV.3 Plot Plan

SCALE

Common scales are •

or 1:500 1:200, 1:100,
dependant on plot area and the available drawing area.

While (unit) plot plan common scale is 1:100 dependant on

plot area and available drawing area.

Scale shall be mentioned in the title block in addition to a

.corresponding scale ruler shown in the drawing

Match Lines

Match lines identify the limits of the plant or units for multi units •
plant.

External boundaries identified on drawings as "Match lines",

indicate that the Plot Plan is not full coverage and has matching
unit(s) with corresponding match line(s) so continuation drawing
.reference should be mentioned
IV. Main Pipiing Equipment/ Eng.Documentation
IV.3 Plot Plan

Match Lines

External boundaries identified on drawings as "Battery Limits"

establish the outer boundary of a plant, or a unit without a
corresponding match line.

Drawing limits must be indicated utilizing North/South and

East/West coordinates as follows: “MATCH LINE E. ------ FOR
“----- .CONTINUATION SEE DWG. ------“or “BATTERY LIMIT N

True and Plant North Arrows

Both true and plant north arrows shall be indicated in

addition to prevailing Wind Direction.

Plant north arrows shall be shown pointing upwards. Only

in exceptional circumstances plant north arrows will be
shown pointing left or right.

.Plant north arrows shall never point downwards

Plant Datum Point

Plant datum point (at a certain plant monument) shall be

shown in the plot plan and mention both the global and local
equivalent coordinates (Easting, Northing and Plant Grade
elevation) in the “NOTES” at the right hand information
.column of the border

Plot Plan Equipments/Items Locations

All locations must be indicated utilizing North/South and

East/West coordinates to equipment, structural columns and
building/feature Dimensional locations are not acceptable, with the
exception of dimensioning to imaginary (dotted) lines to indicate
.mandatory clearances

IV. Main Pipiing Equipment/ Eng.Documentation
IV.3 Plot Plan

Plot Plan Equipments/Items Locations

Each equipment shall have its own reference point by which the 
.location of the equipment is identified

Equipment List

Unit Plot Plans must contain a list of all equipment positioned

within the match lines of the unit.

Care must be taken to ensure that this equipment list does not
influence Plot Plan scale to a degree where equipment location
.is unclear
IV. Main Pipiing Equipment/ Eng.Documentation

Equipment List

On major projects, it may be necessary to assign a subsidiary

drawing sheet.

:Equipment list shall be as follows

EQUIPMENT NO. DESCRIPTION ELEVATION

(REFERANCE)

As mentioned in the equipment list and should be updated according to *

latest vendor drawing.

relative to the boundary units in the plant.

.For multi-units plants, key plan is placed in the Unit Plot Plan only
